I saw one of these in another post and I am wondering what people think about them. I am just getting two new floor stand lamps so will have two spare. I was wondering if putting a full spectrum bulb would be a good idea in one next to the boys. The actual avian lamps are way too expensive at this moment in time, but I have a SAD lamp as I suffer with lack of light in the gloomy winters so just wanted to hear people's opinions please.

Hi, I once read a post that made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. Someone had burned their bird accidentally by leaving a lamp too close to his bird. He said the bird had a row of feathers missing all along his back. You might want to google this as then you could get details of how this happened. I think there is some importance to the bird being able to move away from the light source when he wants. Some limit the time. So far with my set up I have seen none of these effects. The avian sun has the advantage of being compact and if you have a big cage the bird moves around enough not to burn. So you may want a compact light or you may want to only leave it on a limited time.
I don't know how these bird burns occurred though like what the set up was like.

I've never used these as sun is something we have a lot of down here.
I'm sure others on the forum have though.

Maybe I should just move to Australia, for the buds of course I totally believe you would if you could. Our budgies are just that precious. I sometimes feel bad for my little guys not knowing their homeland. I think we should all buy some lottery tickets and the first one who wins a few millions treats the other budgies to a trip to Australia.
