I saw another post about this but I wanted to ask anyway as my case is slightly different. I have had Iggy, a grey dominant pied, since 25th June this year and he came from an aviary breeder whose aviaries were pretty basic, all handbuilt but no insulation whatsoever. When I brought them home they were quarantined in the house and Iggy did seem to breath a bit funny, not squeaky but quick rapid loud breathing as if he was stressed. He also did a bizarre wing twitching thing but I feel that was down to moving from a cold aviary to a house. he no longer wing twitches now that he is in my aviary So I have had him for over four months and he still does the weird wheezing panicked breathing but it isn't a constant thing. It can be me setting him off when i first walk into the aviary or if he gets scared. Quite a bit of the time he is absolutely fine which makes me doubt a respitory infection. Can an infection be like this? Only show up when the budgie is scared but be fine otherwise? I also don't believe it to be air sac mites as I treated both him and all the aviary budgies as soon as I got them so around June onwards. So what could be wrong with him? I am reluctant to submit him to a vet visit as he isn't tame but I will if I have to. Also my vet isn't avian qualified but I have been told that he has experience with them.

I have a similar problem with blueboy. he makes a sort of squeak but only does it when panicked. I wondered if he has an iodine deficiency. He has been treated with ivermectin and also had antibiotics so I am ruling our resp infection or air sac mites.

I think you saw my post, haha.Just to inform you,i still hear the noise from my budgies, and i still haven t discovered which one does it...I hear it only when i go next to them and specially, when i turn my back to them...If i stand starring at them, they don t do that. When i m not there, they don t do that,i ve recorded them, they don t do that...I ve given aviomycine as a precaution and other things, but since thhey still do it,it s either asthma, and therefore non treatable,or their behavior to human presence, which is also non treatable...Anyway,i stopped givin them things and drugs, they still live, they still do it when i said...so be it...
Thank you

Freddie makes a squeak as well. When hes been sick he does it constantly, but when hes well he only does it when panicked. With Freddie I think its something pressing on his voicebox. Maybe an abcess, benign cyst, or tumour.
