Sorry my bird room is under renovation (paint). The budgies living quarters are not all that great. So here is why you have to change the light in an avian lamp every six months or so. I have a new light for the one that is not shining so bright. There are blankets because my birds splash corn and carrots everywhere. (EEks more walls to wash!) I am building my new lamps today don't worry in a few minutes the other guys won't be in the dark either. Can you tell which light bulb is new?

Well three cages have my couples in them and the last cage has Allie and Noah's five remaining babies. I had given the three white babies. One white baby went to my daughter, she still has her. The other two went to a neighbor who changed lifestyles when she got a boyfriend and admitted to me that she changed the water sometimes every four days. I demanded them back. So six plus five ok, 11 birds in all.
First three cages Sunny and Loki, Noah and Allie, Charlie and Emerald, and the last cage houses Monkey, Phantom, Sweet Pea, Crimson and Clover.

Well they sure are lucky bud couples having a mansion house each. I think mine will enjoy getting back into the aviary in the warmer weather but they are out most of the day while indoors. Ive been after a white bud for years but just cant find one .

Sorry I didn't know I had more responses on this thread. I'm such a scatter brain. Everyone here is so nice. skysmum I would much rather have given a white bud to you. I am so afraid one of them will never recuperate. She is so tiny. I really feel so angry about what was done to them. They were not beaten or anything but severely neglected. I had to hear from other people what was going on. The thing that makes me sad is that when I gave them the stores were closed so I gave seeds from walmart, a big plastic container that was mostly millet. I said that the food was only till Monday when the store opened (a day). Then she agreed she would feed it like I do in feeders on the side that are just extra. When I went to take the birds back that was still what she was feeding them. Some people are just jerks. On the bright side though my birds took to feeding their neglected siblings right away. I think this is what saved them. They all recognize each other now. At first the two white girls just stayed on one side of the cage. This morning one of them was hanging off the new toy chandelier really playing.

Also the lamps are not in a proper position in the photo. It was just to show the difference in brightness. That angle would actually eventually harm their eyes. The proper position is above their heads so they won't look up.

Room still not done painting. I ran out of paint for today. One wall left to do. So here is the correct position of the lamps. They say twenty inches above where the bird normally perches. It's a bit higher to accommodate for them moving up a bit. Sorry the cages are all cramped like that.

Thank you BudgiesBuddy the room is almost done painting. Usually they are two cages on one side and two facing them. I think they like this better to communicate. It also seems to reassure them but that may just be because they know their room. I am pretty sure poor Charlie is not sleeping he is looking very tired. The room will be done today, I will air it out all day with a wide open window. Do you think it's safe if the paint is dry to put the birds back in there tonight?

You're welcome It depends on the paint, but normally a day of airing should be enough.
