You may have seen my thread today about one of our new hens. She (and I believe it is her) had laid an egg this morning but as she was about 14" off the floor on a perch, it fell and broke open. I say it's hers as it was underneath where she was sat last night at bed time, and where she was found this morning. She was stressed from the journey from the breeder back to ours on Sunday, a journey of 2 hours. She was making a right racket in her box, whereas the other 3 were nice and quite, with a contented chirp now and then.
Upon arrival in our new aviary she initially stayed inside her box whereas the other 3 happily came out and found a perch. Her wings were dropped at the tail end and the tops were held away from her chest and she was forever closing her eyes as if to sleep, and had big deep breaths.
She does seem to have improved over the last two days, and she has been sitting with the others on various perches, and has been eating with them from the dish. Her wings are now up above her tail and are back closed against her chest, but she still seems sleepy. The majority of pooh on the deck seems ok, but there are a few squidgy wet ones. Obviously I cannot say if they are hers as I've kept out of the bird room as much as possible to let them settle in, and haven't seen her pooh yet.
So the question(s) is, does this sound like stress, and can stress bring on an egg?
Can anyone advise please, and sorry for cross posting but I haven't had much response on the other thread, so hoping that this may shed some light on our problem.
But ...... the egg is obviously going to have already been in the pipeline, so to speak. The stress itself is not going to produce an egg, but may have upset the normal laying cycle, or the breeder/owner was unobservant and didn't realize the hen had been mating. 
Methinks she was going to lay anyway, and probably shouldn't have been moved. That's the best I can do.
