The wife and I regularly use a ground flax seed bought directly from a well known flax farm down in Sussex sprinkled on our breakfasts, and I see that flax seed is sometimes used in people's home made budgie seed mixes, so is it ok to sprinkle some ground ones onto their seed, which currently is a 50/50 mix and a tonic feed in a ratio of around 80/20%? If it is, how much should I give daily or can I just add a certain amount to say a 1kg pre-mixed batch of seeds to save time and then I know that they are getting it regardless?
Kind regards

Flax seed is fine as you know; ground flax wouldn't be any different, I imagine, but how much I wouldn't like to say. Flax is an oilseed; the high oil content needing to be limited in our pet birds. So found this ...... take note of the percentage for all oilseeds offered should not exceed 5%. www.birds-online.de/nahrung/koerner/leinsaat_en.htm

Thanks Hezz, I have now bookmarked this. I will just sprinkle a pinch on daily then.
