Buddy is our first Budgie and up until end of last week he is such a character, talking great character(he is only 9 months old) First sign was runny poo's (he had a grape 3 days before so put it down to that) Buddy still seemed happy but just didn't look his usual self i put him on weak tea for two days (his breeder recommended) Im expecting a Johnson's AVOL mix in post in morn (no pet shop had it near me) He now won't eat his normal seed or the seed bell which he loves only thing he will touch is millet (I know he can't live off just this) Most alarming is he has stopped talking! When he does make a little chirp he sounds very dry WHAT CAN I DO ITS SO SAD?

If you have noticed a dramatic change in him over a day or two, don't hesitate, just get him to an avian vet. You know something isn't right, and it is obvious he is part of the family ...... get him seen to ASAP. Please!
In the meantime, do you have any Guardian Angel? Weak black tea is good, as is chamomile tea (must be straight chamomile though, no additives), some sort of heat source next to or in the cage - hot water bottle if you have nothing else - keep him quiet, cover the cage on three sides to keep the heat in and keep the millet up to him.

Thanks for all your advise, I've just taken Buddy to the vet and he thinks Buddy has a slight respiratory infection so he is now on 7 day antibiotics. So pleased his poo poo is back to a normal consistency too! He felt in all other areas weight etc that Buddy was in great condition. Feathers crossed that Buddy fights this off with his medication..... Forgive me but I never knew about Budgies not having lungs and having 2 air sacs. Whilst the vet was holding him there was this little noise and the vet believes that's where the sound was coming from? Just sounded like 2 snooker balls tapping each other? Anyway thanks for all your help and advice.........Jo
