Awwww, first i think you may have a hen there  . Second, it does look a bit like scaly face to me which is caused by a mite. Ivermectin or Beaphar spot on will get rid of it. And the little lump could be part of the scaly but could also be a feather cyst. Those are my thoughts, see what others have to suggest. And welcome to the forum |

Thanks for your replies and for the welcome:) I just assumed it was a boy because the breeder said it was, but it does sound like I've got a girl lol. I've got some of the beaphar spot on so I'll use that:)

That should do the job . Keep an eye on the little lump though, if it gets bigger i think a trip to the vets  . |

I agree with both skysmum's statements; firstly a hen (how on earth a breeder could confuse this one I don't know, so think you were taken for a ride .... bad breeder!!) And secondly, she does look like she may well have scaly face. Again, bad breeder!  In the first photo it looks like the lump is part of her scale infestation, but not so sure with the other photos. To get rid of the scaly mites you will need to dose her two or three times, but those instructions should be on the packet. Good luck with her. She will be a pretty girl once she has been cleaned up. And welcome! Also, if you have other budgies, they will need to be given a preventative dose and AJ should be qurantined away from them for at least four weeks. |

Thanks for the welcome and for your advice Hezz, it does sound like the breeder should have been keeping more of an eye on his birds. I'll give her a dose of the spot-on today, hopefully the lump will clear up too.
