I have a new young budgie about 12 weeks old which is missing the claw on it's inside back toe. I have only just noticed (now its tame enough to sit on my hand) but I have had the bird for a month and have seen no sign of an injury. There is no scar just a stump.
Is this common? Should I be worried? Thanks, turningstones

Or a breeder being a tad rough in the catching process. Budgies can adapt very well to small disabilities of their toes or claws; even the whole foot. If he is a pet, absolutely nothing to be concerned about; if in an aviary, just take note now and then to check he is coping all right. The most you may notice is a slight lack of certainty on landing, or hanging upside down.
