Hi everyone,
A while ago I posted about having a rather ill budgie with suspected liver disease. The post can be found here: budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/7747/suspected-liver-problem-thistle-advice
Although Star showed huge signs of improvements for a few weeks and was his playful self again, he unfortunately deterioirated shortly after this and began having regular violent seizures. The vet didn't feel it was treatable and we decided it was kinder for him to be put to sleep as he no longer had any real quality of life. I'd like to thank everyone for there help and support - I like to think that he got an extra month of being his old playful self as a result of the suggestions I found here.
Fast forward to now, we wanted Stars companion to have a new friend so he wouldn't be lonely. On Saturday (15th March), we picked up our new budgie - Joey who is 6-8 weeks old. He's great fun and extremely sociable and is getting on excellently with his new older brother.
What i've just noticed today is that his droppings have started to have some seed in them. He had a seed diet at the store we had him from and other than a change in the brand of the seed, he's still on seed with a mixture of pellets in there aswell. He's not showing any other signs of illness - he's flying really well, perches high up the cage and seems to think he's a monkey rather than a bird at times.
Should I be concerned or is this just something to keep an eye on as he transitions over to his new diet? I considered worming him with beaphar ivermectin for small birds, but i'm unsure if he's too young for that?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jack
