my girl laid an egg ystd 19th march 2014 and she has 3 eggs last year but kicked all 3 out of the box and broke them. this time she is sitting on it and only comes out for short periods pf time for eating, drinking, resting legs and mating again with her hubby blueboy. i know its way to early to candle or know anything yet but just wondering about writing on the eggs like i see in this pic. what pen was used? does it matter? is it true you can kill an baby if turning the egg around? i heard about the air sack and someone said if i hold it the wrong way round i will kill it. as i said i had 3 eggs last year but within 10 hours of laying them she kicked them out and broke them so im clueless at this. any advice is good. thanks

So, anyone, what pen is safe to number the eggs? Puglin's post has been moved from the bottom of an old thread.

She laid another egg ystd and is mating again now. I know what egg is what cuz egg no1 has a dry blood spot on it from being laid and no2 doesnt have that. So i know which is which when i mark them. So questions... 1:when can i mark them? 2: is it true about turning them or holding them upside down? what should i think about when it comes to cleaning the cage, the box if at all? How often do i check the eggs? Im still freaked about last time and her breaking them, any info is good. Thanks. l
