Hi folks, after being absent for a number of years I have re joined the Board.
I have an almost 8 yrs old budgie who has been our wee darling for years. She lost the sight in one eye at the end of last year and now we think she is almost completely blind. We don't know the cause. There is no avian vet where we live but I talk to the local vet. She is still eating normally and poos ok but we just cannot let her fly around and muck around like she used to do. She plays within her and climbs up and down her ladder. She responds to my husband speaking to her and sometimes she plays around on top of her cage. It is really quite sad. She is/was a character and we had lots of fun with her. .
Do you think she is OK. I wouldn't like to think she is suffering - I don't think she is. She seems to make the most of how her life is now.
Any comments will be gratefully received.

Poor little Twiggy. It is amazing how they seem to adapt to whatever life throws at them. I agree. I do not think she is suffering. Hugs to you and you and your husband for taking such good care of her.

Poor Twiggy. I can only agree with Budgiefriend's and Nina's answers. How sad for everyone that she has lost her sight, but as long as everything remains in the same places, and she seems to be happy within herself, leave her be. You two know her best, it is your call, of course.
