I had to sing that song - Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree - learned all the way up in northern Ohio many years ago. At last.

Wonder what Australians have to say about that Did you play at uni in UK, BB? No, not in UK. But when we played cricket, we obviously followed everything related to it. And there was a period when England couldn't even find a decent (playing) captain for their team. No disrespect to Adam Hollioake

No disrespect to Adam Hollioake I know this one. My older son is very much into his sports ........ but backing the Aussies, of course! Most countries seem to go through these peaks and troughs. The Aussies couldn't win a trick when the Ashes were being played in UK last year, but a complete reversal when in came down under. How does that happen??? (That is a rhetorical question .... )

(That is a rhetorical question .... ) I think that is because of the home advantage and friendly playing conditions, both in England and Australia, respectively. Cricket teams don't change in matter of an year or so. Australia, once the might of cricket and won everything everywhere, is just another normal team now, and wins some and loses some.

Also, the Brits have spent gazillions of dollars getting numerous sporting codes up to top world standard, what with the Olympics being there recently.
