Hi - I've recently got two budgies (female & male) who eventually in the coming weeks/months will be introduced into the same cage. Is there anyway I can prevent breeding or dothey have to stay in separate cages? Betty is a 2011 chick, and Bertie is 2010 chick. Thanks!

Just don't give them anything they can make a nest out of

With no nest does that mean Betty won't lay any eggs?

Yes no nest equals no eggs.

What mizloco has mentioned is correct for about 95% of the time. Occasionally you will get a pair who are going to lay eggs regardless of what you do to stop, besides separation of course. But this is certainly not the norm, and if you do notice .... erm..... unruly behaviour, mixing things up and changing the cage around on a daily basis seems to work very well.

don't give them a nest box, but if they REALLY want to breed they will just mate and lay the eggs on the cage floor x
