Hi - One of my budgie laid 5 eggs and 4 got hatched as of today. Expecting the 5th one to hatch by day-after tomorrow. Meanwhile, out of the 4 babies, i suspect one of them died as there is absolutely no movement and also the color has changed from pinkish red to kind of blackish red. Attached the picture and circled the suspected dead baby in red. Will wait till tomorrow to confirm if its alive or not. In case if it is dead , should I remove it from the nest or will the hen remove it by herself. Please advise.

You can find out if it is dead or not by holding it in your hands. Just make sure that your hands are clean, odor free and warm. It needs to be removed soon if it is dead.

Put some wood shavings once all the eggs hatch. Start with a little, not a once. Keep us posted.
