Hi guys!
Update on Bruce's foot. I tuck him to the vets and I was given some anti inflammatory, this was on Wednesday we have to give him 0.08ml a day. Absolute nightmare giving him this as you could imagine syringe in a birds mouth, he squaks a bit and kicks a little bit it's over in seconds. To be honest there is still plenty medicine left but Bruce doesn't seem to be getting better on his foot. The vet couldn't feel any break in the leg and said he has probably got muscle damage off falling off his perch. His leg is still a lovely pinky colour and still allows me to touch it. Any ideas what I could do or how to relieve the stress of having him In my hand and sqirting This medicine in his mouth??

The medicine I have is metacam.
He is 22weeks old I have been reading a bit about tumors and it's getting me worried he's so young!

0.08ml is quite a lot of Metacam. My Paddy was on 0.04 once per day along with 0.02ml Baytril. Giving them medicine is a horrible process. You could try putting it on food but to be honest the most effective way is via the syringe. Do you do it on your own or have you someone to help? Having one person hold the bird and the other using the syringe does help a lot. If you give him it in the morning, best way (and this sounds horrible) is to get hold of him while he is still covered up in the cage and sleepy. He will be half sleeping and the medicine will be in before he knows it!
I understand the nightmare, I have been giving first Apple, then Paddy medicine on a daily basis for a combined total of 3 months now.

Yes, best dealing with an avian specialist if they are accessible to you. A lot of 'normal' vets don't have enough experience with birds to properly diagnose and treat. Personally I think there is a real lack of avian / exotic vets around and it's a real shame.
That's good that the one you took Bruce to was avian. I hope you get to the bottom of his foot mystery.

I can't really add any more to what lemonade has said, except good luck and do your best. I too think the syringe is the best way to go.

Having had a lot of experience of getting meds into buds I can sympathise but also say that I am amazed how trusting my guys are with me (there are not hand tame but two will come onto my hand for food and the other two are less nervous than they used to be when I have my hand in their cage) despite all the catching and medicating I have done to them. ffiscool, haven't you done some clever things re meds with Bailey? (apologies if I have got the wrong person!)

Yes. I made a game out if the syringe so I had it empty. I held it, rolled it on my lap. Touched it saying, this is nice, it's ok. The bailey came to look. And I held it to myopathy and said mmm etc. then he wanted to pick it up and had it it a bit in his mouth. So after a day I added the meds. The amount I had to give was minuscule but when he put the end in his mouth, I pushed the plunger. Not every drop went in, but def a lot did.
It worked for B, so hopefully it could for you
