Hello,
I am new to the forum so apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place.
I have just lot my lovely standard green male budgie after 11 years and have to admit that I am devastated.
Thankfully my husband has agreed to me getting another one and we are hoping to do this at the start of August once I have had time to mourn Cyril (the budgie).
The problem is, I just don't know how to go about getting another one as it has been so long. I am wary of pet shops and the only bird centres seem to be Heathrow and Enfield and we live in South London. Cyril actually came from the Enfield Bird Centre but I lived much closer to it then and I worry about transporting a new baby budgie 1.5 hours across London as we don't drive.
I am looking for a young, male baby (the younger the better) so that I can train and tame him (as I did Cyril). I am open to any colours except standard green as I would find it upsetting to get an exact replica of Cyril.
Are any of you breeders that are resident in Southish London or can anyone recommend a breeder that is?
Thanks Natalie

Welcome and so sorry for your loss of Cyril
There are sites with budgie breeders but others on here will have the links and might be able to recommend particular breeders.

Thanks very much - I have indeed seen the list but noone is actually in London. Can't clame them really, not generally a lot of space in London for aviaries!

Thanks very much - I have indeed seen the list but noone is actually in London. Can't clame them really, not generally a lot of space in London for aviaries! Tons of room in souff London... Crystal Palace (Upper Norwood) had whopper size gardens were we lived. Sorry.. The loss of a family pet is always a sad thing be it furry, fluffy or feathered but I'm sure Cyril would have had a good life. Here's wishing you loads of luck in tracking down an new feathered friend. Patience. PS. Not a breeder but there is a pet shop in Sutton that has had budgies in the past or, better still, try a web search. I spotted several budgies for sale in S. London area. (Too far for me these days).
