I recieved my Ivermectin this morning but when i read the instructions they said use for 3 weeks. Does that mean i have to put a drop on every budgie for 3 weeks??
Also is it one drop per budgie as surely they dont weigh more than 50g each?
thanks ;D

It is usual to apply one drop then repeat the treatment after about three weeks.
Are you sure that it is the correct strength

I apply one drop per budgie twice a year serz. I assume in answer to Nev's question you have purchased 0.1% serz

Hi Serz, I think the difference between Nev and Barrie's answers is: Nev is referring to a situation where you know your budgie has something, like scaly face, and are treating for that specific thing - so you'd do one drop of 0.1% Ivermectin per budgie, but possibly repeat the treatment 3 weeks later.
Barrie is talking about general flock maintenance - treating all your budgies twice a year to ward off mites and the like.

i bet barrie hats off to you. ive just done my lot and was very stressful i can tell you, im so glad i only have to do this twice a year.
Took me ages trying to catch each one and they were wriggling trying to get free so i couldnt see properly if the drops were going on too heavily or not enough. Then when i just looked down on my top when i come out the aviary there was a bit of blood. Ive checked and cant see anything of them but now im worried.
I did not enjoy that experience one bit ha ha

I dread Ivermectin day lol. I catch up every bird and cage them all. Tend to get someone to help me, each bird gets a full health check and then Ivermectin is applied and they are released back to their aviary or cage. This way I know which bird has been done, not too bad knowing on Budgies but with Zebra Finches that look the same gets to be a problem lol.
