He has his limits Marianne, what they are I am not sure. They were both in the conservatory and suddenly Whiskers flew to me and landed on my head, climbed down to my shoulder and gave me a good preen all round my ear. He then flew back to the conservatory. So it was a definite action not accidental. He most definitely will not get on the finger. He will go on the knuckle to snuggle up to Joey, but otherwise no further than the wrist. He really is a loveable tactile fellow. Totally opposite to Joey. Joey will quite willingly step up, even in the cage now, but that is all he does. He is more active with Whiskers. They have very different characters as it is often mentioned on the forum. Until I got these two together did I know how different they could be. Now I know why you love having all yours around, all different. That goes for everyone else's buds, whether you have one or many they are all different in some way.

Wow, I take it that is just grass? It's massive!
Did you make those playgyms?

The grass is millet from seed at the bottom of a bag that it is wrapped in. It's only a few weeks old. Yes I made the play gyms for practice. I intend to make a proper one when I get the chance.

Wow!!! your millet grass is brilliant OP, how big is the pot you grow it in? I tried growing some, but just in a seed tray, afraid it didn't amount to much, would love it to look like yours, the boys seemed to be enjoying it. Loving the videos of them both.

I also started with a small round pot a while back and progressed to a quite large pot and the grass just kept on growing until some of the stalk were about 4ft high with proper millet heads on. The heads were so heavy they bent the stalks. I cut some off to see if Joey would eat it, he was on his own at that time, I have never seen millet disappear so fast before. He ate the complete harvest in no time. Not all at once I might add. This time I got this pot which is 5cm X 45cm X 5cm. I planted the seeds in furrows made with my finger and watered every day. That was in mid July. As you say Wow. I had two options one was to take the buds to the grass or take the grass to them. I took the first option by moving the table with the gyms on closer to the grass and wait. It took all of 15mins for them to start on the grass. I think they enjoyed it. It has a lovely buttery type smell to it. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos.

It's marvellous how they have become the best of friends. I leave the cage doors open when ever I can and they both will fly off into the conservatory. They have a fly around in there which is marvellous to see, then they will sit together on a perch stuck to the wall. Then one will hop over to a second perch I have there. Sometimes one, or both, will come back to the cage for something to eat. When the sun drops they come back to the cage so I have no bother getting them back in. I can go and interact with them both whenever or just let them be. It really is great. I'm so glad it worked out. I often think of Geoff, and wish he would come on and read how is budgie Whiskers is doing. If he is able to himself that is. I could ring him up but I'm afraid I might get the news I don't want to hear.

Wonderful isn't, i don't think there is anything lovelier than seeing buds being together and flying around together, its how its meant to be . The dynamics of a couple or a group is fascinating to watch. I had the privilege many years ago to visit a friend of my dads who had a huge walk in outside aviary with over 100 buds in, the sight will stay with me forever, it was like a moving rainbow when they all took off .

I spoke with Geoff on the phone earlier today and he was quite pleased to hear from me. He is very pleased to hear Whiskers is happy with Joey. He said he would look in on the forum, but there is so much that has been written about the pair of them he may have been over faced. He sounded as well as can be expected. I will leave it up to Geoff to come on whenever he feels like it.
