I checked on Raspy at intervals through the night. She sat in the same place & seemed ok, no excessive tail bobbing or anything. This morning she is ok, but not ok, if you know what I mean. She's bright eyed & alert, jumping around & even wanted to come out the cage & have a fly. Inbetween those times, she dozes all fluffed up. She's managed to poop a few times this morning, so that's getting through. Her vent area still doesn't look right. There is a little bulge. Not sure what that is. It is still red & inflamed looking. Poor girl. I am watching her the whole time & taking the cue from her as to what she wants to do, come out for a fly or whatever. I am making sure that only Bezukhov is out when she is out as Cagney can stress her sometimes. She's in the ferplast now whilst I let Cagney stretch his wings, but what is he doing? Harassing her through the bars! She hasn't had any seed yet but Bezukhov has been feeding her so I know she's not hungry. I have noticed this morning that she is thirsty. She gulped down water (with calcivit) on a spinach leaf twice & when she went back in the cage, went straight for the water fountain & gulped from that. (Sorry this is all so long!) As for a nestbox, Hezz, my plan was to buy one yesterday as she has been going mad looking for a nesting site (even this morning she was eyeing up my sleeve). I went ahead & bought one. (Need to drill holes in it etc., to attach). I might introduce it to her today & see what happens... And yes, this "prolonged labour" has made me think how lucky I am to be childless!!!!

Good to know that she's eating and drinking.
Cagney is such a Cad!
Good luck with the nestbox, I hope she pops that little egg out soon.

How is Raspy this evening SP? She rests a lot. She preens a lot. Occasionally she poops. She wanted to come out the cage so she is now sat on top of the Manor whilst the others are locked inside it. I still haven't seen her eat but Bezukhov has been feeding her. I grabbed her a short time ago to try & clean her vent area as it looked a bit messy. (Shows she's not herself yet as I could get hold of her easily, though she was a wriggly worm.) There was a hard poop there that I managed to wet a bit so hopefully it will come away soon. My guess is that the egg is being absorbed & will not be laid. But what of the next egg? If there is one?? The worry goes on......

Thanks for the support everyone.
Raspy seems a bit brighter today, though still not herself. Her bottom area is quite messy. When i get the opportunity I will try & clean it up a bit for her. She is still pooping. I have not seen her eat seed since Thurs night but Bezuky still feeds her. I showed her a bit of millet last night & her eyes lit up for a moment & she took a few nibbles but that was all.
Right now, I have let them all out together. Cagney is trying to chat to Raspy. Bezukhov is standing next to her, waiting to intervene if necessary. I will separate them if she starts looking stressed or annoyed.
The only mistake I have made, I realise now, is hanging a nest box onto the spare cage. Raspy did not explore it but beady-eyed Atilla is now desperate to get in, even though I have put 3 covers over it!
As for Raspy's egg, it surely must have been absorbed. If there is another one it will be a new one, not the troublesome one.

How is Raspy this evening? And have you managed to keep Atilla away from the nest box?

How is Raspy this evening? And have you managed to keep Atilla away from the nest box? Raspy seems a lot better & has even eaten a little seed this evening. The only way to keep Atilla away from the nest box is to lock her in the Manor! Raspy has been in the nest box! She has had a little doze in there a few times today, whilst Bezukhov sat & preened on the perch outside the entrance hole. Though they have all been out together today, they are separated once again for bedtime.

Poor little mite. I do hope she isn't too distressed by it all.

Poor little mite. I do hope she isn't too distressed by it all. I am in the office today but watching Raspy & her boyfriend Bezukhov on the web cam. Raspy has been quite lively. There's been some jiggy-jiggy. She's also been in & out the nest box a few times.

Oh no. I hope she's okay SP So do I. She's in the travel/hospital cage again with 3 covers to keep her warm. She was quite stressed & climbing all over the place but has calmed down now (not sure if that is a good thing). She's been trying to lay another egg & it's quite bloody around her vent... I think I'll put the electric blanket over her too.... Have just let the boys out as they were going mad cooped up. Bezukhov has been talking to her through the gap in the covers. I will get them back inside soon though as I think she needs a bit of peace & quiet....
