I got my beautiful Basil on Saturday and he has settled in really well. He will play with my hand in his cage and will happily sit on my finger for an extended amount of time. He is gregarious and and a little show off. When I let him out for a fly in my office he will let me catch him to put him back in his cage and seems unfazed by anything.
My question is this I am going away cat/dog/chicken/house sitting in about 10 days for two weeks. Do I take Basil with me so I can continue to tame and bond with him? Or do I leave him at home (with my fella and Charlie (other bud)) so he gets more used to his new home? He and Charlie are constantly calling to each other throughout the day and obviously this will stop if I take him with me.

I would leave him with his new budgie friend. They will both be happier together.

They are in separate room though until Basil has finished quarantine and this period won't be up until after I am back. I am just worried I will end up with another budgie who isn't tame.

If you work on the taming when you are back I am sure that you can sort something out. With a little patience, lots cab be achieved.
He needs to settle in to your house first.
