am afraid to ask if it is safe to clean with clore so u don't shout at me (is it ?) mine is getting greenish even if i change the water daily I some times even wash it with a clean tooth brush and dish washing soap. But still 3 days later with no wash the green color will appear.

I promise I wont shout Not sure if Clore is safe to use, but would recommend F10SC every time as it is the best cleaner for use with birds. The green colour in the bottle is due to the water container being situated in sunlight as then algae will start to grow. These blue drinkers stop algae from growing We have them in our cage

I use a dish washing detergent and bottle brush to clean the water containers, but these are given a clean every day when the water is changed.

@samwise1 am not sure that this F10SC is available in my country. I tried to brush them today and they didn't come out. I do the same Hezz but still the plastic turn green.

I prefer a stainless steel water dish for my birds. I take it out every morning and let it sit in boiling water while I clean the cage. I used to have the plastic ones, but find the SS much easier to keep clean.

What about using distilled water? or boiled water? I was thinking maybe boil an amount of water, allow it to cool and store it in the fridge. You can then fill the budgies dispenser from that. I'm thinking there maybe something in your supply, like algae that interacts with the plastic.

Just remember nour90 to bring the water from the fridge up to room temperature before giving it to your bird, I vaguely remember reading somewhere on the forum that cold water straight from the tap/fridge is not good for a budgies crop.

Or you can keep a small container on the bench and fill whenever you make a cup of tea or any time you boil the kettle. This is what I do for mine. Before I top the kettle up with fresh unboiled water I take some out for the birds, so I am not waiting for the water to cool down first thing in the morning.

I wonder if your plastic bottles have perished on the inside, with washing and cleaning abrasions making the inside surface pitted so it holds mould in little crevices and cracks?
It's probably also a good idea to soak your water containers in some kind of F10-like disinfectant weekly, if this mould thing remains a problem. Just make sure you rinse well after soaking. Maybe Clore is okay, but I don't know that product.

I wash it with warm soapy water every day. Disinfection is every week or so with F10SC.

Might be best, if possible, to buy some new water bottles, and start the cleaning routine again from the beginning. Plastic does degenerate with age, as we know. Another thing that will help keep the algae from taking hold in a new bottle is to add a couple of drops of apple cider vinegar to the water. It can actually help the budgies as well, maintaining a slightly acidic ph to their crop. A few of us do it regularly and the birds don't even seem to mind.

I bought it because the previous one started to do the same -_- yesterday night I tried water that I drink (we buy water here, we don't drink from the tab). Let's see if it will turn green. Plus cleaning these green color is tough! even when I added the drop of clore!
