I have a male who is between 11-13 months of age I bought a female 3-4 weeks ago same age and he was obsessed with his mirror. so i took away the mirror. He then was showing more interest in the other male in the cage and visa versa. But the female would follow him around him paying no attention to her, He recently starting to show interest in the female bobbing his head chirping singing, now she is showing little interest. I did put a nest box in more then half way up the cage and they show no interest in that either. When i bought the female her cere was white now it has turned to mediam shade of brown. I feed then pellets, seed, millet, fortfied egg food they have a pretty good diet. I am going to buy a cage for the other male on monday. Can you guys help me and tell me what im doing wrong if anything. The female is a skyblue yellow face and the male is a double dilute normal green ( looks almost full yellow). Thanks very much

You can take a horse to the water, but you cannot make it drink. What I'm saying is the budgies will choose their mate. May be the more experienced members can give you some tips.

Breeders wanting specific traits or colours will pair up their birds as they wish, separate them into their own breeding cage, complete with nest box, but they will also know that both birds are in breeding condition and ready to go. I'll leave it to the breeders to offer any more tips.

Thanks for the comments. I totally understand where you guys are coming from. And i honestly dont expect anything to happen over night either. I did just get the female a month ago so i know they still have some bonding to do before the thought of babies. And i want to breed these guys together because she has really nice feathers on her face and her color is more like turquise (if thats spelled right lol) not sky blue but may be the same thing idk lol. And the male is a half english budgie(show budgie) and half pet type. he also has really nice feathers more on his body then face, so i was thinking that if i breed these two together they would have some really nice offspring. I dont plan to sell the babies, my sister loves budgies and so do i so they would be in really good hands. I am going to college for genetic enginering so i love to breed animals for the better of their health and looks. And i have been doing tons of research about all this for about 5 months now. And now it has came time to actually do it and im stumped lol.

My advice would be to give them more time. A month really isn't that long a time for the hen to settle in. Allow them to get used to each other, take away the nest box, and let them just have fun as budgies it would also be a good idea to wait because they are both still quite young. Use the time doing your research, I read anything and everything before breeding my aviary budgies and asked a tonne of questions to the experienced breeders on here. Have a good look through the breeding section of the forum and find out what else you need to add to their diet.
