I think that Abbie might have a feather Cyst on the inside of her wing, where the "elbow" would be.
Can anyone post photos of a cyst and tell me what I should do for her?
I take it it will only get bigger and not go away?

Marianne, while I have never had to go down that road, if it is a cyst, then that is the case if it isn't treated. A bit like a cyst or absess to us - it needs to be drained, clean out and antibiotic powder-ed. Have a look at this: forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=23568

At least it is small enough not to worry her yet. Hopefully will give you time to sort out what to do. Come on people who have dealt with cysts, where are you?
In the mean-time, Marianne, I would look at bathing it with warm water and a bit of something you guys use over there. I would say saline solution, or iodine/betadine, maybe dettol.......all will have a go at disinfecting the wound and are budgie safe. Let us know how you are doing.

The cyst will get bigger Marianne , it is caused by an ingrowing feather which causes a build up of keratin , i do open these up and drain them but they are quick to return.

Got another photo today. It's not much bigger. Does it definitely look like a feather cyst? Here she is with her boyfriend Hector.

If it is a cyst, I imagine it would grow but fairly slowly, especially to start with. Hope someone can help, Marianne.

I just got a close up of what could be a feather Cyst. Would be grateful if someone could confirm for me?

Looks like a feather cyst to me. Is there any fluids? No, no fluids. Also I can see a tiny vein in it, is that normal?

Veins or blood vessels are everywhere. This one is more visible as this part is swollen.

Veins or blood vessels are everywhere. This one is more visible as this part is swollen. How would you normally deal with a cyst feather BB? Normally it is very difficult to say whether it is a tumor or a feather cyst. But I always look for two signs, shape and hardness. A tumor would be hard whereas a feather cyst is soft, at least after some time. Yours appears oval and lengthened in shape which is the case with cysts most of the time. A feather cyst is more like a swelling which involves the feather shaft, more like an ingrown feather. With time the swelling just keeps getting bigger. When squeezed firmly and gently, it will explode and some gross stuff will pop out, sometimes with the ingrown feather. If the feather doesn’t come out, it will have to be removed surgically. In most cases it will usually recur.
