Made some new perches for my breeding pairs. I used this white wood for a while but all were chewed and de-shaped.  So decided to make a few more.  I find these sizes suitable for different size of birds.  Here are all sizes together. |

So is that a hardwood you are now using for perches instead of the white softwood?

All the ramin timber we used for perches and cornices is not now available in the UK, we have gone green and only import it in softwoods...............i get cherry wood in 3 x 2 s and get it ripped down into perches

I have experienced that budgies chew softwood perches. And when it is despahed, it hurts their feet. So this time I have gone for hardwood.
