That got your attention didn't it?! Well dont know if anyone saw on TV last night David Attenborough's new series but I had to share with those who cant get that programme this wonderful bird called the boot racket-tail humming bird. At first I thought he had a fluffy white bum like many of our budgies do: but then... Sweet eh?! I think they would even rival Shirls chicken's pantaloons

oh it was amazing to watch, loved it, and can't believe the bees will even fight them for the nectar and that these stunning birds are only the size of your little finger

Now I have to wonder what is the reasoning behind these fluffy 'trousers' as Skysmum so aptly called them. Any reasons given, anyone who watched the show??? Gorgeous little things that they are.

It's David Attenborough's Life Story stace I think there are 8 episodes in all As for wondering why they have "fluffy trousers" I may have found the answer Female booted racket-tails do not have them, so it is down to what they call "sexual dimorphism". So they are mainly for show and not for any purpose and they are unique as no other humming bird has them. Cool eh?

I'm glad you didn't say 'shirls' pantaloons and referred to the chooks pantaloons samwiseg. (I was sure I put this on the thread yesterday but it just disappeared!!) Strange! Stunning pictures!!
