so today I was buying seeds for the buds. I started to chat with the sale man while he was preparing my order. So I asked him: "when is the breeding time for budgies?" he answered: "now" and added: "but if they r in a cage, then the percentage for them to breed is low... too low." and made something with his face, like forget it I remember reading over here that when u want them to breed them u put them in a cage :/ ! I want baby budgies. ( I know I should (and will) wait for them to turn a year old or more. will they mate or not?

I don't think it's a given but they may......if they have no 'nest' its more unlikely.
I suppose like humans, some birds are more fertile than others so its hard to say but better advice could be forthcoming from those who breed!

There is no certain time of the year for breeding caged budgies. They need to be in breeding conditions though

When budgies who live in flights, are shifted to cages for breeding, do much better than the ones live in cages throughout the year.
