I've only had my boys for 8 months but in that time with the articles I've read I got the impression birds will only learn to talk if there's just one not if they have their own flock. I could be completely wrong of course! I'll be interested to see how you do with yours. What are their names?

Thank you Jenny! My birds are named Gatsby, Kady, and Kiki. I had heard G, K, B, and P were the best sounds for learning to speak, so I picked names where about each syllable began with one of those sounds.
I had read a single male bird was most likely to talk, and since I have 3 (2 of my birds are likely female), I know it will be difficult to get them to repeat any phrases. That's really why I was looking at the devices...I know I'll need all the help I can get, and the device/app can repeat phrases more than I could. I really do hope they'll work.
I used to have parakeets before I was married, and one of them (Sprite) would always say, "Get the bird off my head". So funny because that bird always landed on my dad's head! Another one would say "Lori, clean" because my sister's name is Lori, and we had to clean the house before mom got home, so I guess I said that a lot to keep her on task. Ha!

Lovely names. Do you have photos? I have just the one who does talk. It can be very amusing. His latest is 'seriously?'
I didn't realise how often I said it!

Ohotis? I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean? How funny that your bird says "seriously"! If my birds pick up what I'm saying, they will definitely repeat the things I say to my dogs all day, i.e., "outside" and "house", etc.
Your parakeet is so pretty!

I think ffiscool was going for the word photos. There's information on here on how to load them up. I used photobucket but can't remember what I did. The two in your profile picture look very sweet. What colour is the third one? It's funny what words they pick up. I watched a youtube video just last night and was rather shocked when he said the f word! Merry and Pippin are mine and my husbands first experience of birds. What dogs do you have? We had a Jack Russell when I was younger.

Ohhhh, photos! Ha ha, I didn't catch the typo, and I thought he was referring to a type of birds or something! Can't even tell you how many times I Googled it! Yes, the photos I have are here: share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AZM2LRk0auWTqw&emid=shareprintsharer&linkid=link5&cid=EM_sharsharI think there's a picture of our pomeranian in there too. We also have a pug who is ornery as heck, but awfully sweet. The third bird, Gatsby, is sky blue with yellow-face 2 mutation that turns his body more of an aqua than sky blue. His picture is visible at the link too. Merry and Pippin were my favorite hobbits, so I have to like those names! Is one male and one female, and if so, are you going to try to let them breed? I have never bred any critters, neither dogs nor cats nor birds... I did have guppies for a long time, and they always had fry that I was giving to the pet store, but I don't think I have the inclination to breed birds. How about you?

They aren't terribly noisy. They have their squawking sessions, but it isn't as bad as I had expected. I have noticed that if I put their cage by the (closed) window, they become very very quiet. I don't know why that is though. Yesterday, we let them have a flying session in my bedroom, and they would each chirp to the others the same chirp, as if they were trying to find each other. It was pretty cute.
I know realistically having three the same age, the odds of having them all repeat phrases is pretty low, but I'm not giving up yet. Maybe the Mimic Me will help, but, if not, it can't hurt, right?

Well, I watched this video and went ahead and ordered the device. I know one-on-one "talking" sessions would be the best, but with 3 birds all the same age and in the same cage "talking" to each other, I will need to rely on any devices available. I'll do one-on-one sessions too so they can get some positive reinforcement for talking, but I will use this as a supplement. Wish me luck!

As for being quiet by the window, perhaps they were nervous of something outside?

As for being quiet by the window, perhaps they were nervous of something outside? There really wasn't anything going on outside to speak of. We live on 1.25 acres so there are always rabbits and squirrels out there, but that's it. We do have a variety of birds out there, i.e., blue jays and grackles. I think they just were a little disoriented to be somewhere else in the house. I only let them have free flight time in my bedroom right now. It would be nice if they could fly around the house more, but they aren't trained yet to step onto my finger except in the cage. I'm afraid if I let them have the run of the house I'd lose them!
