I have only just caught up with this thread and apart from feeling very sad am extremely angry with your trustworthy neighbour!! I have heard that Savlon is good too. Hugs to you both, vhplac and Bo. You are doing really well vhplac, keep it up, Bo is looking better already from those first pictures. I'm sure he will pull through having got this far bless him. Thoughts are with you both.

I agree, comparing the pictures, I would say there is an improvement. You are doing a fantastic job. He is one courageous little bird. Well done to you for giving him all the love and help he so desperately needed.

Poor little soul . It amazes me that he is pulling through this tbh, if the stuff has done this to the outside its a miracle it hasn't harmed his insides, he must have ingested it too. Im so pleased he is making some progress, please keep us posted.

You are going great guns with Bo; keep up the good work. I too am glad to learn he bit you! I am wondering if the vet gave you any indication as to whether the feather damage is permanent or not? I guess you won't really know until he is healing properly and capable of producing new feathers. It is likely that some feather follicles have been damaged and these feathers may never grow back, or may be distorted if they do. I am sure it won't matter to you or Gretel; you will both love him anyway.

Poor little Bo, but he does look better. Pretty soon you will not be able to tell that anything was wrong. His feathers will be beautiful, thanks to your love and good care.

Bo is still losing more feathers, but it seems that every day he gets a bit more feisty when I try to get him out of the cage to bath and 'oil him up'! (Since I am using a brush and coconut oil, my hubby calls it 'basting') I was thinking about his feathers and that some might never grow back. But if he pulls through this and will be healthy again, I could not care less I had to buy him because of his beautiful gray coat, but I am a knifty knitter and should he end up naked, I WILL MAKE HIM SOME SWEATERS!!!

Which he will immediately reduce to shreds! Basting the budgie; there is a novel idea. Glad he is getting some fire in his belly, though.

This is awful! I've just read this all from start to finish. I would be furious. How distressing for poor Bo and yourself to deal with this. I agree he looks better in the most recent photo. I hope the little guy will be ok and his feathers grow back, but as you say ... Knitted grey sweaters!

Bo past away last night! He was eating and drinking just fine. Even climbed and groomed his friends. Complained with the others when the sun hit the cage... All the scabs fell off and his skin looked thin but healthy underneath. I thought he would be alright since he had more energy and acted almost normal again. He put up a good fight and I really thought he would recover.
