Thank you everyone. It means a lot to know you are thinking of Criswell I'm glad he's already had his meds today. We gave it to him when we got back from the vets. He was a right rascal to catch to go to the vets though.

Sounds like you have found another good vet for the little man; I am glad that is one problem sorted for you. Some birds, budgies, succumb to yeast infections very easily when on AB's. Keeping apple cider vinegar in the daily water can go a long way to preventing this, but now wait until you/he has finished the AB's, or ask your vet. If the probiotics are water-based, as I suspect, then you will need to wait until you stop with them, I think.

How is Criswell today?

Thanks for asking Marianne Marlow Criswell is much more relaxed this morning. He's been out to play a few times already. He's not had his meds yet today. It's so hard to decide when is the best time because he can be so reluctant to come out of his cage so I don't want to give them to him first thing in the morning and put him off coming out for the rest of the day. His bioplus probiotic just arrived so he has some of that in his water now. I wasn't expecting it to be yellow. I hope he doesn't mind. Hezz I've been wondering about apple cider vinegar. I've seen it mentioned quite a lot so will get him some. I was very pleased with the treatment he received at the vets and this one is only a few minutes drive from our house so it was so convenient. The other vet was the other side of town and depending on traffic it could be an hour round trip even though it's only a few miles.

Sounds good, criswell - a good vet is so valuable and all the better for being so nearby. I hope meds time isn't too traumatic for you both. Some folks on here have developed a great trick of getting their buds used to taking liquids from droppers by dispensing nice things like a drop of orange juice as a way of making the giving of meds less of a struggle when it is necessary.

Some folks on here have developed a great trick of getting their buds used to taking liquids from droppers by dispensing nice things like a drop of orange juice as a way of making the giving of meds less of a struggle when it is necessary. That's a good idea to get them used to the idea of a syringe or dropper before they need it. We'll continue to hld Criswell every now and then once the meds are done so hopefully he might get used to it a bit more. It's the catching and holding that's the biggest problem. And today Criswell really did not want to be caught for his meds but we got there in the end and about 15 minutes later he was chirping again. I've also seen him drinking his probiotic water so the yellowness hasn't put him off.

It is lovely to hear them chirping when they have been quiet for a while. Keep getting better, Criswell.

Sorry for not updating in a while. Criswell is doing really well. He's had 9 days out of 14 with the antifungal meds and he's happy to drink his probiotic water too. Amazingly he still trusts us and he's spending more time out of his cage. He's also flying more. He has a rope spiral on the outside of his cage and he'll fly from there over to me at the dining table, and then he'll fly back to his cage again when he's ready to go home. Before he would just hop from his spiral on to the open cage door to get him. So it seems he has much more energy these days. He sings and chatters all the time too . We have 5 more days of meds and then a check up at the vets on Tuesday.
