Thanks Marianne. That's a lovely photo. They do look almost identical Criswell was a right rascal for medicine tonight. Now he's feeling so much better he's hard to catch and he has caught on to all our tricks for catching him.

So happy that he is doing much better. It sounds like the probiotics might be doing him the world of good ..... stay well, Criswell. I hope the vet only has good things to say when you go back for your/his check-up.

Criswell had his check up today and another crop swab. The amount of yeast in his crop has really gone down but the vet wants him to have the anti-fungal meds for another 7 days just to be sure. She'll do another crop swab next week. She was pleased that he has been flying more and she examined him and weighed him. She's upgarded his body condition from 3/5 to 4/5 and she can feel more muscle on his chest. He now weighs 55g.
I was half expecting the vet to say he should have the meds for longer. I'm glad it's only another week and we have plenty of meds still. He is costing us a fortune in vets appointments though. But he's a lovely little guy and I'm glad he is feeling better.

Thanks budgiefriend. I'm really pleased about his body condition and how well he is doing.
He did not enjoy the vets at all but he was very brave and he was chirping away within half an hour of getting back in his cage and he was out and hopping about on me not long after that. I'm so glad all the medicine and vet visits hasn't spoiled his fun and he's still my friend.

criswell, did I mention before the benefits of adding ACV to his water on a regular basis? Particularly birds on AB's as they can be susceptible to yeast contamination of their crops. All you need to do is a dd a few drops into his drinking water. Because he does have yeast now you could make it about a ml into 100mls of water, but make sure he does drink this ..... if it tastes to vinegary he might not drink it. If he is fine with that concentration you could even increase it. What the ACV does is keeps the ph of the crop slightly acidic and retards the growth of bacteria and yeasts as both like an slightly alkaline environment.

Thanks for the info Hezz. He's currently having probiotic in his water so I'm not sure I should add anything else to it.

Merry and pippin have avipro in their drinking water. I wanted them to have ACV too once a week or so. What's worked for us is putting a drop of the vinegar in their bath water! They both drink from it and then dip their beaks in to preen themselves. If pippin does go in for a paddle I refresh the water. Merry will only go in it if it's dry!
