Sorry for lateness of supplying address starlingqueen i think we were posting at the same time you asked and i missed your post first time round! They are testing to see if he has worms SQ (which I did say that I doubted) But they need to eliminate everything and if it is iodine deficiency then the water I am giving him will help. I did suggest whether it was Megabacteria or Tricho but that would no doubt involve other tests. What I was delighted about was the way she handled him, checked in his mouth/crop and assured me it was clear. As well as talking to him saying "you are so loved and cared for you sweet little chap" vet getting on good side of mummy is always a good thing They did also say about using Avipro? They swear by it, has anyone used this? It seems very similar to Guardian Angel? Any advice on this would be most appreciated Oh and post edit - she did say it might be liver but until they run their tests they dont want to speculate.

So pleased you got ok sam and have found a vet you can trust and be reasured that they know what they are talking about I hope they get to the bottom of what's causing this, it will be intresting to know. Hoping little Alfie will start to improve or at least maintain until they can treat whatever it is. Healing vib's from me and mine

When I first got Daisy, she was chewing her wings. I had to collect the first poop of the day for three days so the vet could test for giardia (intestinal parasite). I was always concerned about whether the first poop I saw was actually the first poop of the day. Anyway, I had to put meds in her water for 30 days. Now her wings have grown back and she is beautiful again. She is eating and playing with her toys and enjoying life. Like a different bird. Hope Alfie will feel like a new bird again very soon.

Sounds like a good experience, Sam, even if you didn't get any answers. I hope they come in soon enough so you can start Alfie on a full get-well regime. Hugs to you both ........ I promise I won't squeeze Alfie too hard.

I dont know if it is me but it does seem like Alfie is getting better? I can only think it is the iodine in his water? He is not so fluffed and sleeping less? He decided to have a right song and dance yesterday before bed, he even had a enthusiastic exercise flap?! Keeping my fingers crossed - must be all you guys with your well wishes

Cagney says: Get better Alfie.... if you do, you won't have to take any nasty medicine... if you see a syringe, best consult with Bezukhov, the master of How to Avoid Taking Your Medicine - he's helped me out no end with that problem...

JoJo says: always bite the human, especially if it's female, it shows them their place and that you're better than them. Remember that we are the dominant species.

Well I do think Alfie is really on the mend! I swear its the iodine you know? As there has been no other meds administered and he his singing his head off plus beak grinding and head bopping (even shouting ) now! Despite this I still shall be giving in the faecal sample to the vets tomorrow and will be also giving in his diary of the past week so that she can see how I have monitored him plus the positive changes. I would only ask now when she rings me with the results that if it is what I thought it was (iodine deficiency), then how do I proceed to medicate him? Afterall, I cant keep him separate from everyone as that is really unfair. Hey, but positive news nonetheless

Definitely positive news Sam. It's just like us though, when we go to the doctors, whatever we had wrong has mysteriously disappeared. Good luck to you both.

I, too, hope it is as simple as that - an iodine deficiency. Good luck, Sam.
