I have got my silos in the cages already. They are very good. Had a bit of trouble getting the little front part off that goes inside the cage, it's tough but I used a screwdriver just to ease the nobbles out. I was worried about breaking them. You'll know what I mean when yours arrive. I left the old seed pots in and have put the cuttle bone, mineral block and salt lick in them.

Salk licks are not used by everyone. I have found that some of my buds prefer them over the mineral blocks. Mine are from a horse food supplier locally. I think some pet shops sell them. They are the pink Himalayan salt. I'll see if I can find a link.

That film Alice in Wonderland springs to mind, where she has her arms and legs hanging out of the windows, bit like that here with cage gate

Thanks starlingqueen . I've just got back with the chair. The birds are taking over the living room lol I know what that's like. I have 4 cages and a lizard tank in my lounge and another four cages in the conservatory along with a guinea pig cage and 2 tortoise vivariums. It's like sardines in here.

I got my cage starlingqueen and have put it up tonight. I have done it right but the side doors open upwards instead of down so would need tying to stay open. Is that the same with yours or have I got a faulty cage? I've tried looking at pictures online and from what I see that does look right.

Are you sure it's put together right? You could have the door panel either upside down or round the wrong way.

If I turned it the other way then the feeders would be at the top and the door at the bottom. I found a picture tonight on Petland website and the doors are upside down just the same as mine. Here's the picture, if you expand you will see the doors.

The doors on the feeder side are up the right way on the picture. The ones on the side open upwards and on the front they open down.

That's the same as mine but I find the side doors opening upwards a bit strange as the doors don't stay open so you'd have to tie them if you wanted the buds to come and go out those doors. The canto opens sideways and chirpy uses those doors to fly out from rather than the front. I do like the cage though, it's massive. I can't wait to put the birds in it later. No doubt their be all googly eyed at their new abode. If I'm lucky I might get a pecked finger for my trouble

I think the side doors are designed to lift upwards so a nest box or bath can be fitted without catching on the door.
