What's jellybean doing in a parrots feeding bowl. Kind of dangerous I would think. Aprt from the query of larger parrots holding things in their foot, do they always use the same foot. That is are they footedness or ambidextrous?

Budgies don't seem to cooperate when we're taking photos! Still a lovely picture though

That is are they footedness or ambidextrous? Most parrots are left-footed, if that is what you were after, OP. Cockatoos certainly are, but I haven't taken much notice of Loki's preference. I shall now take notes to make sure he is a southpaw and not otherwise inclined. Watch this space .................

Oh, Lordy!!! Well, Spyro has exceeded all expectations! Things became rather interesting this afternoon; Spyro became very bold, Loki became made himself rather submissive .... I think .... and this is the result: Ah, shite .... post imaging is not playing ball .....................

I think it has to be more diet related which would also bring in your theory about being ground foragers Hezz. I was watching a beautiful cockatoo in a pet shop a few weeks ago, i watched the man give him a monkey nut which he took in his foot, he was holding the foot right up and breaking into it to get the nuts, as they do. The bigger birds eat bigger nuts and seeds also fruits so have to hold them out of necessity i guess whereas the buds being small seed/grass eaters have no need to hold. As M said ive seen mine hold down grass stems etc to get to the seed heads but never actually hold something up. How about this one Hezz i.pinimg.com/736x/46/3b/97/463b9776e038ec01aebf8bd497e33da5--budgies-parrots.jpgThis is beautiful. skysmum. I too am worndering what the coloured "beads" are in the pot. I took this one just before, but wasn't quite quick enough .... Spyro and Loki were sharing Loki's grass. Spryo moved off just as I took the photo and would not co-operate to give me another. Beautiful pic Hezz

This is the photo I was trying to upload last night. This morning it wants to play ball .... cute or what?? ..... and don't worry, we were both watching out to intervene quickly if needed, and only an arm's length away.

Now that is something else alright. As long as Spyro isn't bothering with some-one else I suppose it will be OK. I have noticed with Whiskers and his harem that if he is paying too much attention to either one of the females the other will step in at some time. I would be just cautious with Loki and Spyros that that is not going to happen. Great photo.

I can't really make out whats happening with the picture as I'm using my phone. Is it just a beak to beak, or is one trying to feed the other. Gosh Spyro, you've the heart of a lion 😀

OP, Spyro does not have a significant other, so no need to worry there. The only bud he ever fed was Smudge.
