Can anyone recommend a good travel cage, I have got a travel cage but the bottom is sealed in so the only way to get the bird in or out is through a very small door which is not good if they are scared or unwell. Before Pickle died we had to take him to the vets 3 times, I was taking him in a small pet carrier which he didn't like because there is no perch in it. I also brought my new bird home in it and he ended covered in poop as he had stood in it, there must be better ways, anyone? To add I did wonder about buying a show cage to use, has anyone used one as a travel cage? My travel cage with closed metal bottom My travel box with no perch

I am not sure if this is the sort of thing you are looking for but it's worth a thought. Travel "cage"My main reservation about this travel "cage" is that a hen budgie would get to work on it with her beak other than that it looks OK. The advantages that I can see are: *it has a perch *the sides are soft so not going to cause injury due to impact * looks secure The "travel" cage I have came from the same company but is different. I bought it to transport new birds home. Mine is plastic (so easy to clean), has two perches and a wire-mesh lid / sides / door. AND... it was cheap as it was on special offer at the time too. If I can find the type I have for sale I will post a link on here. Good luck with your hunt for what and your choice.

I have looked at these but if you saw the state of my plastic travel box when I brought new bird home, let's just say I don't think it would come clean! Let me know if you see the other one for sale.

I have a brilliant travel cage for my buds but I can't remember where I got it from!! I know samwiseg has one exactly the same, perhaps you can remember samwiseg?? It was reasonable price and is so easy to get buds in and out, it also has a perch. You could even fit 2 to three little buds in it (a bit of a squash) but two is fine.

My travel cage doubles as a hospital cage too. It is just a very small ferplast: www.feedem.co.uk/bird-aviary-c196/bird-cages-stands-c207/bird-cages-c208/ferplast-rekord-2-small-bird-cage-white-p16531Phinny, bless him, could not navigate the small door, so I would have to unclip the bottom to get him out. (**General warning to everyone - please carry these type of cages by supporting the bottom. Do not rely on just the clips holding the base. **) I picked this cage in particular as the dimensions fit a plastic crate I slip the cage into, on the car seat - the seat belt goes around the crate rather than the cage.

Just followed the link above - it looks similar to the cage I have but it is larger. Mine is quite tiny. It reminds me of an *Anderson Shelter in shape (sorry... taught 2nd WW History and I'm old enough to have seen them!). Mine has a plastic base and two ends. The wire fits over the top and down each side. The curved door opens in the side and up into the roof. I'll have a go at getting a photo of it if I can and time allows. I paid no more than £10 (may have been less as it was a special offer). Easy to clean and quite secure. Plastic coated wire handle is fitted into either end. The whole thing is light weight and will fit into the larger size Sainsburys / Tesco re-useable shopping bag.

Is it big enough for my big English budgies, could you get two in it, the description mentions finches?

You certainly could fit your big boofy boys into the one I have, Helen. Loki the sun conure fits with plenty of room, even a cockatoo could at a pinch. It is so light and easy to carry without compromising on strength and all the fastening work really well.

Well I have fitted two of my big boys in it helenmat - its only meant for travel cage purposes not really anything else. However, those feeding cups that come with it are practically useless!!! But it does for our needs
