Sam, they might need a bit more sun, if that is possible. Might just be the angle of the photo but they look a bit leggy. Hezz, no disrespect or anything but: England Flat soNo Greenhouse! They are in the sunniest spot I can find and I'm trying the best I can! Perhaps I should pot them on? And I planted the seeds that way as I took on OP advice as I didn't want them to go pot bound! Oh the trials and tribulations of being a gardener I don't think there's any fear of that Sam. Did you count the seeds as you planted them. I went the other way with my first lot. I put far too many in the pot. Maybe I should've counted them.

Mine are growing - I keep watering lightly each day - is that too much? The soil does seem to dry out.
I'll get a picture and upload.

I use a plant sprayer for mine, and water morning and night.

I'd pass on eating it Hezz!!! Hopefully the budgies won't and will love it; I'll be disappointed if not. Now it's started growing what's best to do: leave it to see if millet grows (how long will that take???) or just grow the grass and let them have that - how tall will it grow?

As it is quite thick, I'd do both. Thin them out so that each individual plant left in the pot has space to grow, rinse the soil off the plants you have pulled up and offer them up to the bravest of the brave.

You could do your own experimenting there clt80, leave a couple of the crops to grow just keep watering them. If they are anything like what I grew they will grow quite tall. You should see the millet heads appear in a few weeks. Don't be impatient and let the others grow a bit longer then harvest some by either cutting the grass very short or pull the plants out of the growing medium and rinse well, leave the grass wet and serve to the buds. As you have a few separate pots you can leave the grass in the posts so it stays fresh. Don't forget to keep watering them. They need mre water as they grow to stay looking lush. You have a very god crop there.

Wow!! You have really done well there clt80, but then I suppose you have quite a few mouths beaks to feed. I would let one pot grow on to actually produce millet seeds, if it will, and feed the rest to the buds fresh.

Brilliant clt80! I am thinking that as they are saying that us Brits are going to have a heatwave for 3 months I might actually grow up another pot (a bit fuller this time) so they can help one another stand up a little better a be a bit stronger. But I'd just like to say thank you to Marianne Marlow cause without her idea I dont think I would have tried this! Well done to everyone's efforts, its a most entertaining thread

Okie doke I'll pull a handful up this morning and see if they eat it! I'll keep watering the rest. I should have added, though, pull up the smaller plants and leave the stronger ones to grow up fully. You want survival of the fittest, not the meek shall inherit the Earth.
