I think Hezz, samwiseg is administering Marley's meds orally and not diluted in any drinking water. That is probably why the treatment lasted so long. Marley is getting the full dose, twice a day.

Where do you get your red millet spray from Marianne Marlow? I meant to ask before but forgot You have no idea stevex clt80 when I went down there Tuesday to collect it (1hr round trip) it hadn't arrived so I waited 2 hours for their courier to turn up. Once the box had arrived (ok I didnt know what was in it) but it had must be refridgerated on the box, but I kid you not, the receptionist was more interested in the box someone had dropped off 5 minutes earlier with fudge in it. So the medicine box just sat there being ignored. I did then finally say with as much politeness that I could muster at that time "is that perhaps the medication that I have been waiting for?" And it was?!!! It had sat there for half a bloody hour! Then it of course had to be made up! So five hours after getting down there waiting and then finally getting home, Marley was able to have his first dose. I was knackered. Thank you so so much Hezz for that information, I can assure you the vet wont be liking my second visit either but hey, one thing I am sure about is that he will like me having to pay him for a further 20 days of meds. (I will be taking the article along with me though for proof) I'm sorry but I have lost my faith in vets completetly

Still think it is too early to say really Marianne but he has been eating more so am hoping that some is getting dgested now. Shirls is right, I am administering 0.4ml twice a day by syringe with a cannula on the end which makes life SO MUCH EASIER but I shall be asking about the 30 day course required when I go/ring next I do feel sorry for the poor little chap, but thanks for asking Marianne I do hope he starts to improve x

It's an awful disease , they scrabble around for food and you think they're eating loads and they're just picking at stuff

I'm so sorry that Marley is poorly. Well done for being persistent and getting the medication he needs. It is hard to have faith in vets when they seem to know less than we do. I've come across that a lot with my rabbits, and I wasn't best pleased with the care that Criswell had from vets either. I really hope the medicine has Marley feeling better soon.

Aww thank you jellybean Funnily enough I contacted the vet yesterday to discuss the possiblility of a further 20 days treatment. Long and short of it they have agreed, but to add insult to injury I went there to discuss it with them lol! And was lucky enough to see the vet I saw last time. You'll like this Hezz, not only did I tell the vet I knew he had already ordered the meds, but told him that "as he knows 30 days medicinal treatment is usually required to get rid of this infection" to which he had to agree! LOL! So as luck would have it I am getting it sent in the post this week when it arrives so I dont have to keep going down there and I can ring and update him that way. RESULT! Sadly when I got back home he had experienced another vomiting session literally as I came in the door I felt like all my efforts were for nout. So consolled myself with a tequilla sunrise last night...er, make that two But he is still with us looking a bit brighter this morning and I have been feeding him up and will be giving him egg today too. Onwards and upwards, we shall persevere. Thanks for asking JB x

Just so as you are aware samwiseg My vet told me that the meds can sometimes cause a bird to lose a little weight as it can be rough on them. I made sure Sky was back up to fighting weight with a weeks worth of egg and millet before I attempted the meds.
