Aw poor little Boo Boo.
I can understand why you are upset. At least you know what it is and can move forward with treatment of some type hopefully.
How was he in his show cage?

I have to say, the avian vet was brilliant. He picked Boo up and in less than a second said there's definitely something wrong. His crop was too gassy, his wings weren't quite sitting high enough, and there was something in the way he was closing his eyes that indicated an occasional pain episode. It just took one glance for him to note it.

He hated being put in there. Picked him up, which he doesn't like to begin with, put him through the little door and he was like: "NOBODY PUTS BABY IN THE CORNER....GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!"

Blueboy doesn't like it either. I am hoping he's calmer on Tuesday when we go for our vet visit!

The vet also gave me his home phone number, which I'm not sure is just a super good or kind service, or something that has just made me even more concerned for my poor little bird. My vet is quite well known in avian circles. He wrote a big book called The Budgerigar and went out and studied them out in the wild. Lucky he lives in Sydney. Funny. When I told him Boo's proper name was Nelson, he said he loved Nelson for a name and had visited a lovely town in New Zealand called Nelson which he enjoyed immensely and that the bird sculptures in his surgery were by a local Nelson artist. Well, of course, Nelson is my home town. How strange.

Maybe the home phone number was because he could see that you were upset and he wanted to give you reassurance. Funny that, I think the vet we are going to is called Nelsons. What a coincidence

What a great avian vet, shame we dont have one round here that's as good as that. It does sound like the vet is on the case which is REALLY good so hope he gets well soon Take care both of you x

Thanks for your kind words everyone. I've been reading up on blocked gizzards, and it's not good. I really hope this vet can help us.

Sorry to find Boo isn't doing too well. Hopefully better news with culture results to come.

Maybe depending on what it is they can give him something to break it down? I hope so anyway Fingers crossed for little Boo.

Be a good boy, Boo, and get well soon. You're much too cute to be sick.

Boo is in the very best hands Stace, it's quite worrying how easily they can get themselves into trouble... when I think about all the things mine investigate with their beak, and you just have to hope they aren't eating any of it everytime. I hope there is positive news on Monday. x
