Love the name and pics/videos. Very cute on your arm. I think he’ll be used to your hands quickly.

They're quite handshy as a species, but we'll see. He's getting less bitey and steps up well on a taxi stick.
Just brought him up to the living room whilst my housemate wd40s the doors downstairs because Cocoa contact calls obnoxiously every time a squeaky door opens or closes, which is pretty horrific when he's on your shoulder if he doesn't settle down quickly.

I love the hoodie video. It's like 'where is the hooman? The hooman was in here a bit ago....?'
That and the trying to get in the hoodie pocket! Brilliant.

OH brought him to the living room and Cocoa sat on my housemate. All was well. Until Cocoa nipped my housemate's neck, then chomped onto his finger when he tried to shift Cocoa. So I ended up scooping him, tucking him in a fold of my t-shirt, and unceremoniously returning him to the quarantine cage downstairs.

Oops, chomping on the housemate probably wasn’t the best move young Cocoa!

Housemates and other extraneous people generally do not take nicely to being chomped on. My son’s name for Loki is “Effing Bird”. The look on his face was priceless when I told him I’d left Loki to him in my will. . I haven’t, but I haven’t told him that.

Cocoa is gorgeous Ira. He reminds me of a chunky, chilled-out bud (no offence Cocoa!). I noticed that your flock list had increased but I had no idea he was going to be such a beautiful addition. Hope he gets on well with the others when they meet.

willowsmum OH accidentally called him a budgie at one point, so every so often we make comments like, "You're a very strange budgie, Cocoa." Hezz Fortunately although my housemate is not an animal person he's also pretty patient and understanding about them doing things like that. Afterwards he just said, "No harm done" and shrugged. I love the idea of you terrifying your son into thinking you'd left the Lokster to him! ariella I'm not even sure it was a full bite to the neck. His beak is quite big and pointy, so it might have been a hard preen or he didn't realise that what he bit was part of a person, but then he went for the fingers. If it's me getting bitten I tell him off, frown and repeat until he stops, but when it's someone else I don't want them getting hurt. We also had Lily in the room so I didn't want to cause too much fuss, though I'm surprised I managed to pick him up without him flying off. Clearly he was too busy chomping.

Ira If he went for the fingers after the "hard preening" I think he knew what he was doing

Are you sure it's safe to have Lily in the room at the same time Ira? Just worried for Cocoa

Marianne Marlow It's not something that will be a habit, don't worry. I only let him stay because there were 4 of us, Lily was lying on Xana's lap paying no attention, Xana was ready to grab her, and Tom was ready to fling a blanket over her. Unfortunately, Cocoa likes to travel around the house with us. Usually I just shut doors to make sure Lily can't suddenly show up. Foetunately he is way less fluttery than the budgies so he draws Lily's attention far less than a budgie. She also got used to having Indie in the Hamberley in the living room when we first got him and is far less interested than when she first saw a budgie in the house. Not that I would ever trust her. She's a useless hunter, can't even catch a spider, but she does have a hunting drive and I wouldn't want her to even get the chance to scare one of the birds, let alone harm them. He spooked in the kitchen on Sunday and did a loop out and halfway up the staircase and back, Tom came running downstairs and chased Lily off of the hallway into the living room to shut her in thinking she might have done something, but she was literally sat there watching in her bored looking fashion. It did remind me to shut the door though, just because he's less likely to fly doesn't mean he won't. But we're moving him upstairs later so hopefully he'll be easier to deposit on something when we leave the room.

Never getting anything that's not a budgie ever again. Biggest mistake of my life.
