I only mentioned that if it’s a gut thing and smell. When Max smelled, I started adding it.
I’m sure the breeder will have experienced anything it might be

Oh poor Charlie and poor you. I hope that the breeder can help work out what the problem is. It's awful not being able to get in with the avian vet.

Thank you Marianne. It’s silly but doubt I will get much sleep tonight .. MY worry also is that if I had to give Charlie medicine…..I think the stress would kill him, he absolutely hates being touched. Sounds silly to say because he is very tame and willingly jumps on my hands . There should be a way of giving medicine on millet …..I wonder if that’s an option? Anyway night night all and thank you.

This might be useful... I'm no expert but somebody told me to give budgies hot chili peppers which are a natural wormer and they also clear the gut. This info I got from a breeder.

Just an update….Charlie is still quiet this morning and puffed up. He has eaten some seed and had a sip of GA . But he is still making the cracking seed sound a lot. We usually can’t hear the TV because of him talking and it’s so quiet today……Marianne he does eat Basil but won’t touch it just now. I am worried about the breeder coming later to check him out because as I have said he doesn’t like being handled, but realise he will have to check him over……🥲

Good luck. The thing about the breeder, he’ll be very quick at getting him in his hand, Charlie probably won’t see that coming, to be stressed in advance, if you know what I mean.

Yes ffiicool I do know……He has been and given Charlie a good check. He said he can tell he is eating, he had a good feel all around his crop. Felt his tummy , checked and trimmed round his vent….said his breath smelt fine. Looked in his mouth and couldn’t find anything wrong. So he has trimmed his nails and put the mite stuff on him….and has given me drops to put in his water for a week ( sorry I didn’t ask the name and he has measured it out in a srynge for me) …I think it’s similar to GA but better. Of course the vet would probably have done blood tests and he cant do that, so I will have to see how he gets on. He said keep him warm and quiet and he thinks he will get better…. If he is no better by Friday I will get him booked with the avian vet when she is back from Covid. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I hope all this helps and Charlie was okay with being handled. I'd make that appointment with the vet, you can cancel if Charlie picks up in the mean time.

Glad there’s nothing obvious. I agree, book the vet and cx if need be.
Hopefully he’ll perk up soon. It’s a worry when our little friends can’t tell us what’s wrong

Marianne Charlie squawked a lot but G caught him quickly and gently. It’s the bit where I hold my breath as I worry he could have a heart attack. Charlie has eaten some seed since so that’s good…… Yes I will book an appointment, but I do know it won’t be until at least the end of next week…a long time in a budgie life 🙁but I have done my best for now…
