Glad the breeder didn't find anything too obvious so maybe its something minor that he will get over now. Best wishes to you and Charlie.

This afternoon I opened his cage up , he didn’t move for a while so I sat reading….all of a sudden he flew out and sat near my neck and had a nap! He stayed for about an hour then went back in his cage…He is still very quiet but I was so surprised that he came out. His dropping are a bit loose so I will keep an eye on that, but he must be feeling a bit better…I will cover him up early toning and hopefully tomorrow he will improve some more……Thank you everyone for asking about him.

Such a worry for you ladybird. I’m so sorry I didn’t see this earlier and could have added my best wishes before Charlie saw the breeder. I’m so glad it all sounds positive and I think Charlie coming out the cage for a cuddle with his mummy indicates he is heading in the right direction. Hope he has a good sleep and is much more active tomorrow.

Yesterday Charlie seemed almost back to normal, he was out of his cage a lot, talking a lot and I thought he was OK….I gave him some tonic seed, also two bobbles of millet. This morning he is quiet, a bit fluffed up and poop dangling under him. He hasn’t got diarera, just normal looking poop. The breeder trimmed his feathers under him so I don’t know why it’s collecting……..Could I be giving him too much tonic seed. Yesterday I ordered him seed ( he has Tip Top) it has arrived this morning ……I don’t know what to do except just give him the Tip Top and nothing else….. I am going to have to catch him and remove the poop and he HATES me doing that….

I’d say, only as a process of elimination, only give him his normal seed for today and see.
If you don’t remove the poop, will he?

I am going to have to catch him and remove it and it will be stressful for him…..He has been eating a bit, I have thrown all the old Tip Top seed away and he has the fresh….. I am wondering if it’s either the millet or the tonic seed…either way I won’t give him any . He is silent again and sitting fluffed up, but he wanted to come out and sit with me earlier so I let him…….I do wish the Avian vet was available to see, I am so worried about him…..( I don’t think there was anything wrong with the TipTop seed from Haythes it’s just they only sell 2kl bags and I keep it in a cool dry place, but I throw it away after a couple of months)

If you have room, you can always store excess seed in either the freezer or fridge, rather than wasting it, although I’m sure the wild birds don’t mind Charlie’s cast=offs.

You would think the wild birds would love the food, but they don’t touch it, preferring the wild bird we feed them. Still worried about Charlie. I have a telephone appointment with a local vet who is supposed to be good with small animals ( I cant get one with an Avian vet until at least next weekend)….. Charlie is still silent and fluffed up, but eating and drinking so all I can do is keep him warm. I don’t know what good it will do just talking to the local vet either. Where he is situated makes it impossible for us to take him in…..plus it is very cold and windy today and would worry about stressing Charlie out too. So worried 😥

Do they do home visits? It’s good he’s eating and drinking.

Fficool I will ask when he phones, but this vet practice isn’t close and they are not Avian vets…….I looked at Charlie a few minutes and I think he was trying to be sick….he was bobbing up and down FAST and opening his beak? But now he has gone to eat…..This is really stressing me out. So wish I could have seen the proper Avian vet…..

ladybird the bobbing up and down and looking like Charlie is trying to be sick could possibly be normal crop management. I see my budgies do that regularly. It will do no harm to speak to the vet on the phone of your concerns. You may get some insight, perhaps.
