Poor Charlie, as if he hasn't been through enough. I hope the moult isn't too bad.

Yes Charlie is moulting but he has never been this quiet before……What I am worried about is that he is making the clicking/ cracking noise again , same as he did when he got so Ill. The vet was unsure what this was. She treated him with everything she could cover, and he had two weeks of the treatment. He seemed cured, but she did say she hoped that once off the treatment she hoped he stayed well …..if not things didn’t look good for him………So I am sure you can understand why I am now so worried once again. The vets bill was in the hundreds, but he is so worth it……..I think the next few days will tell me if it’s just his moult 🤞🏻Or a disease she can’t cure…..

So sorry you’re back in such a worried state ladybird. I absolutely understand how concerned you must be. It’s just such a shame that the vet was unable to definitively say what caused Charlie’s illness, so there’s literally nothing you can do but wait and see. I hope very much he soon comes out of his moult and everything improves once more.

Is he still on any meds? Think there was one he might have been?
The fact he did so well with what he was on, seems in a way odd if it’s come back after 2 weeks. Although it might need a top up,
Was he moulting at all when he became unwell before?

He started on the Milk Thistle yesterday and I think that can give him loose poops?

If you think the milk thistle is causing the loose poops, you can stop it for one day and see if it changes.

Sorry fficool didn’t see your post. He is still on a small dose of Metacam until Wednesday.. No he wasn’t moulting last time before he became unwell. I will leave off the Milk Thistle tomorrow …..he is on 0.5 mls in his water…..She put him on that because his beak is needing trimming too much.

I hope his poops improve, maybe it is the milk thistle and the metacam together making the loose poops. poor Charlie, hopefully his moult will ease soon and then you can get a fair assessment of how he is. It has also been v warm, so maybe a combo of things

I have removed the Milk Thistle and yes maybe that’ is what is making his poops loose and green. The Metacam stops as from Tuesday so I will re introduce it then…. He wanted to go to bed early, so he is tucked up for the night now.

Really hope it is just a lot of things for his system at once and you’ll see a difference within a couple of days. Keeping everything crossed for Charlie.

Have you talked to the vet about the clicking returning and how he isn’t handling his moult? So soon after getting him home, that’s where I would be going to for advice. The vet and nurses have seen him very recently and will have more idea of what may or may not help than we do. Any advice or suggestions we may give may well be counterproductive. Please, let the surgery know of your concerns.
