I thought of you earlier loz , there was a beautiful Kakariki going off to her new home, same colour as your Chocobo. It must have been a sign? I guess we must be patient

I have had cat cravings, because of yearning for something I can touch. I very much doubt that would ever happen, though. Too much of a budgie person. I wouldn't enjoy an aviary or a bird room that the birds never left. My housemate's cat isn't doing too well. She has a mass on her colon that's inoperable. So she's on palliative cwre. But she's an old lady cat anyway so how much longer she has was already debatable. Lily's always been a grumpy old mare, although she's actually more affectionate since we moved, but we will miss her when the time comes. Looking forward to hearing about your new Chocobo and your flurry of hens, loz

Never enough hens. Her appetite seems to have picked up since going on her painkillers, so that's something. And she likes having the bits of her neck that got shaved scritched.

I wouldn't enjoy an aviary or a bird room that the birds never left. We like having a bird room, but I understand why you don't prefer it. This particular room holds heat and feels cozy during cold weather. The birds can be loose in there for several hours, while our dogs can still roam the rest of the house. In fairness to them, we were "dog people" first.
However, our current group of pets (3 dogs, 9 birds) are the last that we want to own. We feel content with the memories and experiences that we already have. Someday, if there are only three or four birds, we might stop using a dedicated bird room.

Someday, if there are only three or four birds, we might stop using a dedicated bird room. When we moved we decided to have a 'bird room', because I wanted a quiet place for them to sleep, and the idea evolved into it being a safe space for them to be out whilst we can't supervise them, so they can still exercise even if we're at work. But the intent is to let them have access to the rest of our floor of the house when we're home. We're putting a door on the stairwell so that my housemate's cat can't come upstairs and the birds can't fly off downstairs.
