Well done for cracking the sprouting blueelephant. I’m so pleased both are tucking in and enjoying them. How is Toby doing? I hope the vomiting has reduced/stopped.

ariella I am not sure how he is to be honest. I have not seen as much vomiting, but then the same was true last week and then he had a really bad day.

Well, less vomiting has to be good. Hopefully there won’t be another repeat and no more bad days. I’ve got my fingers crossed he’s past the worst.

Yes, I make a batch of cooked grains and leave what I feed them for about a week in the fridge and freeze the rest. It freezes well.

So Toby had a regular weigh in yesterday. Down to an alarming 36g. This is less than he was when we saw the vet in march. He'd been back up around 42/43/44 for a couple of months. So panic stations yesterday with millet scrambled egg, two more lots of scrambled egg today, and he has just weighed in at 42g? Can a bird really change 6g in a day?
He genuinely does seem heavier on the hand. And he does love scrambled eggs...

6g seems a lot in 24hrs. You'd have to suspect an underweigh yesterday. Scales do have moments of mechanical mischief.
Finrod lost 4g in two days according to my measurement today. This is a good thing though as Sunday's reading was too high for comfort!

I always weigh them multiple times in a session. So get on, get off the scales, zero them again etc. They are very obliging provided I am holding millet.

I think 6 gm loss/gain could be real for budgie with AGY. Some days he won't eat as much as other days and budgies do have a fast metabolism. Good job finding food that he likes and getting his weight back up quickly. From what I've discovered, one key to keeping them healthier is finding foods they'll like other than seeds and getting them to chow down on it.
Good boy, Toby. Eat your food and be a happy little guy.

Thanks tweetiepiesmom he sure loves scrambled egg. Trouble is the two of them throw it absolutely everywhere 😬 My lounge smells like an egg sandwich! He was vomiting a lot yesterday, but the egg seems to stay down better.

Oh well, I hope you don't object to the egg sandwich smell! My two chew on the sprouts, get it all over their beaks and then shake their heads, flinging it everywhere. Its a good thing they are cute and adorable!

I’m sorry Toby isn’t doing too well; has anything upset his routine recently? This might be a good time to use your Guardian Angel, blueelephant. Or more often if he is getting it regularly anyway. That’s what it is meant for - birds that are ill or stressed. I’m sorry, I can’t remember what advice the vet gave you when this all kicked off?

Thank you Hezz - good idea with the guardian angel. Toby has confirmed AGY. We did a 30 day course of the recommended drug but he still vomits regularly his seed and didn't really improve with the treatment apart from gaining some weight. I've been trying to feed him as much other food as I can so his diet is less seed based. He's a sweet little thing, and I'm realistic that essentially he is on borrowed time. He sleeps a lot, but he sings still to himself and him and Barney are super close little buddies. It's a tough one. I am essentially just watching his weight and if he looses lots and doesn't put it back on again then we will have to have him PTS ☹️.

I'm very sorry Blueelephant. This is so sad. I hope you and Toby an Barney have quality time together for as long as possible.

It's an awful situation to be in with Toby. I can only help that he stays healthy-ish for as long as possible to enjoy his time with you and Barney.
Great that he loves egg. I remember that egg used to help Sky when his weight went down.
