They are lovely, Lynn, and your daughter is doing so well with them too ........ and hubby likes them ....... looks like they are part of the family. Surely someone would have come forward by now? I agree that they are used to being handled - so doubly surprised that no-one is looking for them. They are lucky that they all stayed together. Yes, it so good and lucky for these little guys/girls that they've stayed together. Have you looked to see if there are more out there somewhere? What good luck for you to have found these babies. What fun you are going to have. I hope you keep them all. Four aren't any more trouble than two are.......and they've obviously been a flock for a while. They have such deep feelings, you might be breaking up a couple w/o knowing it if you give some away. You are very, very lucky to have found such wonderful tame budgies, and your daughter will have MUCH fun with them! What a great Christmas present for her. ;D I don't expect you nor your husband will escape their persuasive charm. Gosh! Four TAME budgies! Wow!

True Mick. With them being so tame I can't imagine that someone would have purposely let them go. They're gorgeous, though You've very lucky!

I do feel very lucky finding them, or them finding me which ever way round it was. As Mick says there is 2 sides and I keep thinking they can't have come that far. I live on a farm my nearest neighbour is 7 miles away. That is what I find so hard to get my head round. Could they have flew 7 miles survived and stayed together?
I have thought that someone has dumped them in my hen run knowing I would take them in. Like I did the rabbit and Guinean pigs. I also must admit I am not a a pet bird person. I have flew various kinds of birds of prey, but never had a pet bird. My animal family at the moment is as follows 4 hamsters 2 horses 3 dogs 7 Hens 3 guinea pigs 1 rabbit And now 4 Budgies. Just as well I live on a farm and work from home..lol I keep checking the Hen run to see if anymore have appeared. I am prepared now if anymore do arrive. The local rescue have given me a couple of cages just in case. The longer I have them the harder its going to be to let them go. I will be happy if they do have a loving owner that wants them back.

Normally I would say that anyone who has tamed their budgies and looked after them the way these guys have been, would be heartbroken at losing their beloved pets. But you can only advertise so much that you have found them, and has anyone lost some budgies? I can't imagine anyone who has taken so much care with them just dumping them in the hope someone will find them and give them a good home. This one is really confusing to me.

It really does seem strange that 4 of them turned up together, but if they did fly in and no ones just 'left' them there then it's remarkable how they've managed to keep together especially as you say you're 7 miles from your nearest neighbour. I can't imagine how anyone could leave an animal or bird no matter what their circumstances are. Our first budgie literally landed at my son's feet in the middle of an industrial estate. There weren't any houses close by so don't know how far he'd flown. I advertised him found as he was tame and well cared for but no one claimed him (thankfully!) and he got us back into keeping budgies, he really was a gift from up above

These Buds are beautiful Lynm, im afraid i think that they have been dumped, i think its unlikely that they would stick together and all find their way into your chicken pen, especially when you are quite remote, that's my theory anyway. Its getting near Christmas and people have started to dump their pets . We have just seen a poor dog on the news, tied up outside a pub nothing more than a skeleton . At least these guy's look as if they have been well cared for though, you are very lucky .

What an amazing story. I'm so glad they landed in the 'right' place.
As to how they got there, budgies can fly a LONG LONG way. And they fly in flocks, so it would be easy for them to stay together. As long as their flying skills are okay, they could have come from many miles away. In the wild they can travel huge distances to get food to bring back to the nests.

The story doesn't seem to end there either. My husband seen another one from my daughters bedroom window this Morning. A blue one. I jumped out the shower and just seen the blue flash leaving the garden. I tried to find the poor wee guy, but I couldn't. I even took a recording of these budgies making a noise then played outside. Goodness knows what I looked like. I'm just glad I live in the middle of nowhere and the only ones that could laugh at me were the sheep and horses. I am starting to wonder how many there are.

Someone has turned those poor babies out. Maybe a relative died and the other relatives don't want to take care of these little guys. I'm glad, at least, that the winds/fate/God has lead them to you. You may be finding more of the lucky ones that find their way to you.
