It so cold here tonight -4 ! I do hope the little blue guy manages to survive the night in this weather. I can't even leave the hatch to the hen run open, as mister fox will eat my hens. These budgies must surely be aviary birds that are used to living outside or they would be dead by now.

i think you might be right about the aviary ... mabe theres has a hole in the flight or the aviary its self that they dont no about ..??. i suppose if you had another cage.... 2moro .... you could put food in it ... and leave it out in the open where you saw this blue budgie... and with the recording playing ... good luck ..... .

Do you think the recording will work Mick? I had noticed with these other budgies when the pairs got spilt they started shouting to one another. So thought it was worth a go. They are doing really well. I can leave the cage door open and the will happy come out and fly around , then return to the top of their cage when they are tired.

I don't think they are aviary birds. Aviary birds don't usually respond so well to being handled. Unless it was with someone who spent a lot of time with them. I have to agree with Stace - staying together is natural for them; instinct would tell them that's what to do, and flying distances is what they naturally would be capable of, as well. Lynn, I had to laugh at your description of yourself when the blue bird showed itself. Luckily animals don't give a #%&* what we look like!

Whats the latest Lynm? Any more budgies turned up? And how are the others settling? Gotta agree with Hezz, personally wouldn't think they are aviary birds but at least they have found someone very kind who has taking them in

I hope the last poor little one is safe somewhere. Maybe he'll return to your chickens or the sound of the budgies in the house... What a confusing story... You'll probably never know the answers to how they all ended up coming to you and why no one is looking for them... your daughter looks very happy to be their new"mum" though!

Thank you everyone for taking such an interest in these guys. It's nice to know there are still some genuinely nice people out there. Well no sign of the little Blue guy today. Will keep checking just in case he comes back. The others are doing very well. Getting stronger all the time. They are out of the cage most of the time. Just shut the door at night now. Spend most of the day on top of the cage. My daughter loves them. Keep asking when we can buy them a bigger cage. I don't want to go out and buy a big cage and then someone comes along and claims them. How long do I continue looking for the owner ? All the local rescues within a 40 mile radius knows about them. I have had it on local radio twice. Oh well one day at a time for now.

Oh they are irresistable! I gotta say, you have been a very thoughtful person and done everything you can to advertise them so if they haven't been claimed by now/new year.... January Sales would be a ideal time to purchase a new cage ;D and all of us here can recommend a few! Any advice or help you need then just give us all a shout we will help if we can x

If you haven't already.......You might try putting out some seed in a large dish (such as a pie dish) on a raised flat surface, which would catch his attention. Along with some water in a shiny container, which again might catch his attention. Especially, the water. (Along with the music?) Budgies can last only a few days without either, and I'm thinking the water would be the hardest for him to find. I sure hope that you can find this little guy. BTW, welcome to the budgie club. Once you've had one, you'll never go back. ;D ;D ;D

What a lovely story, and quite appropriate so close to Christmas - instead of a baby in a manger we have four budgies in a hen house! It is a mystery where they have come from but they have clearly arrived at the right home and I know you will all have plenty of fun with them. Fingers crossed that the little blue one will be found soon.
