that budgies say at an appropriate time...
Do any of your talkers ever say anything at a time when it's actually in context?
I've had a couple of occasions with Munchy. Once was back in the days when he would say 'I love you' and once he was on the back of the sofa and said it, and I replied with 'I love you, too.' Then he ran over to my face and said 'Kisses'. That was very cute ^^
Another time he popped out of his cage right next to my head and said 'Hello?' in the way that you might when answering the telephone. It was like he was trying to see if I was there or something.
But by far the funniest incident happened yesterday. Having recently perfected the word gorgeous, it's currently one of his top things to say. Yesterday, he was sitting by the window and my nan went over to him and said 'Hiya Munchy'. The little yellow fluffball turned his head to look up at her and replied 'Hello gorgeous!'.

Ohhh that's lovely . I was watching a bud on youtube last night, he was on the guys arm and i swear he could have talked the hind leg off a donkey, he was brilliant, but he kept looking at the man and saying, I love you, and of course the man wasn't replying because he was videoing, i felt so sorry for the little chap he had his head on one side waiting for the guy to return it but he didn't.

That's beautiful, Ira. Munchy is becoming a right little chatter-box.

Aww, that's cute Skysmum! I bet the poor little thing was so confused that his owner wouldn't reply though. They have such sweet little faces when they cock their heads to look up at you, too! He is, BB ^^ He makes us laugh pretty much every day! I still wish that I'd handled him differently as a chick so that he might be a bit more social now, but he's a happy and jolly little creature and I can't imagine life without him. Oh, Hezz, we can't shut him up! XD He whistles incessantly when he wants out of his cage, sometimes before he's even had his breakfast. So I put my hand in the cage by the door palm up and he plops himself onto it and wanders up my wrist and climbs the cage. As a budgie mum I have always been proud of his talking ability, though ^^ It's the second thing people notice about him after remarking on his colour, once he's started chittering to himself again. He sits at the window and goes through his whole repertoire of words to the passing cars. I remember him first starting to say words as a chick. They were so cute and quiet. In those days he would stay on my shoulder if I placed him there because he was too nervous to move, and occasionally you could hear this tiny little voice say 'Zoe' (which my granddad was always trying to teach him) and 'Munchy' or 'Good boy'. Now he says everything loud enough for the whole room, and sometimes further, to hear. He even whistles one of my granddad's favourite jazz tunes ^^ I'm glad that I made you smile, Sam That makes me feel all happy inside! Today he's been playing on the floor with his blue and orange ball, which is the only one that isn't tied to something that has survived (aside from his favourite one which I save for him to play with whilst I'm holding it). There are actually two blue and orange ones, which I swap around each day for washing as Munchy regurgitates on the balls a lot... (And when I removed one from his cage he regurgitated on the ladder instead...) Anyway, he started playing near my feet and occasionally I could feel this ball land on top of my slipper and roll off the other side XD Yesterday he just ran over, looking for food, and started nibbling at my slippers. He's so silly! And then later, me and nan had to go for a haircut, which means everyone leaves the house as granddad has to take us. As we all got up and nan opened the door, Munchy ran to the edge of the windowsill and crouched as if he was going to take off (we needed to put him back in the cage anyway [or his housey as I call it]). So I said "Come on then, yellow-thing" (another of his many nicknames) and he took off and landed on my granddad's shoulder. And thus he hitched a lift back to his cage. He's so good at going back inside now. I can't believe that at one stage he wouldn't go back in at all. I now feel brave enough to get kisses again. Luckily he doesn't really bite noses, and if my nan is brave enough then I should be too. Sadly, any sign of a tiny with of blood from where I've had a spot and he's doing his scab removed routine on me XD He also tries to remove my lentigines, so he must think my skin is very dirty XD I think granddad's bushy eyebrows are his favourite to preen, though

Bushy eyebrows would have to be a great target for a lovely neat, and always looking beautiful budgie. Any one of mine on my shoulders is always having to TRY to tidy up my escaping hair. Poor Smudge gets in so deep, she has a little panic when she gets a hair caught around her - gives it a right telling off, too!

Course, it is never their fault is it?

I know, Sam I feel that every day. I'm even luckier than some people might expect because I've never really had pets. We go away every year and as I've mentioned before, nan isn't an animal person, so the fact that she decided that I could have a budgie at all makes me lucky, but then he's such a lovely bird, too ^^ The weather's good today so he's sitting at the window watching my granddad potter around in the front garden. Every time granddad walks past the window Munchy keeps asking him for kisses XD He spent about 10 minutes earlier just sitting there and grinding his beak and this morning he was awake before I even made the tea. Usually on a Sunday I make a cup of tea for my grandparents because I'm up first and the kettle wakes him up, but today he was already wide awake and whistling to me so I took him into my grandparents bedroom and he sat on my arm chatting to his favourite ball whilst we were drinking tea. I think my grandparents, who were half awake, only knew I was there coz he started talking XD And Hezz, Smudge is so funny XD I love the way hens seem to think that they're always in the right and everything else is wrong for doing things that they don't like XD It's a shame that they get such bad publicity :/ Compared to cocks, I mean.

Apparently it was my ear's fault this morning - it got a nip just for being there, I think! It is lovely that Munchy has made a point of getting on the good side of the Grans. He must have known that he was on probation earlier on.

Your stories about Munchy and his adventures with your grandparents are wonderful. I'm really glad he's bringing some budgie joy into your house.

Thank you, Stace He certainly is a little rascal! My nan bought him a set of three cat toys which are like a short plastic stick with a ball on each end. They have bells in so he'll love them when he gets used to them. I might have to tie them up to swing around if he can't throw them. Poor Hezz! *delivers Munchy to kiss it better* He's currently running around on my lap and arms, chittering to and chewing on the ball I'm holding. He loves chasing them around the floor but then he regurgitates on them, which I'm trying to limit with these coz the bell is metal. His favourite one is entirely plastic, though, which is handy. \eheheh, just had my fingertip gently nibbled twice ^^ And he's just left, but he's been here about 10-15 mins so I'm very happy ;D If you're happy and you know it, wink your eyes~ If you're happy and you know it, wink your eyes~ If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it,~ If you're happy and you know it, wink your eyes~ If you're happy and you know it, bob your head~ If you're happy and you know it, bob your head~ If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it,~ If you're happy and you know it, bob your head~ If you're happy and you know it, grind your beak~ If you're happy and you know it, grind your beak~ If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it,~ If you're happy and you know it, grind your beak~
