I can't believe I'm having to do this but after weeks of husband sneezing and having trouble breathing we have pin pointed the reason. its the budgies and the feather dust coming off them.
so I'm having to find a loving home for my two. im in swadlincote derbyshire near the m42 junction 11.
Cedric is around 9 months and sky 5-6 months. They have paired up lovely so will not split. They love there veggies. cedric is finger tame but sky isn't.
id prefer them to go to a home that let's them have free range flight all day as this is what they are used to. either that or a nice large aviary with plenty of toys as they love there toys.
if need be a can sell there cage with the budgies but would want £40 as its well kitted out.

OH NO Amy - I am so sorry. They have become family haven't they. I am allergic to cats but the birds don't bother me at all, however it would be a nightmare for me to live with a cat so I can imagine it is not pleasant for your hubby.
If I could have them I would, but 2 is our limit for now and we are way down south anyway. I hope you find a good home for them, one where they can fly like they do at yours. I would feel the same about Hob and Millie, it would be horrible now if they were confined to a cage as they are just so used to having the whole house to themselves.
Good luck!

Yeh he has been taking piriton but it's still not 100%, hubby did say to find them the best possible home for them and not to rush until I feel comfortable about who they go to. He says he can put up with it a little while longer. He's upset too as he never even thought he would be allergic to anything. I'm sat on the sofa watching them chirp and feed each other.

It's a shame you live a little to far away or i would take them! I have a large aviary in my garden they could have gone in along side all my other buds! I live in Andover Hampshire so quite a treck!

Do you know I never thought of that! Do you think it would affect my rats as they are in the lounge too?

I don't think so. I can sneeze sometimes I put them in the dining room . They still get attention but not sitting in it all the time. I got a lil hand Hoover to clean around the cage everyday to keep the feathers and mess at bay

I think it would be fine as it just clears the air of all things including dander ect ect get one WITH OUT an ioniser or if you get one with an ioniser make sure it can be switched off as this WILL harm budgies.....
i reakon this could really help and also its worth a try isnt it!? xx

I am real sorry if you do have to let them go Good thinkin' 99! You too, Moogie. Amy, there are a number of people on this forum who swear by these things. If everyone can help out here, by giving the brand and size/output or whatever (I have not had anything to do with them so have no idea what exactly is needed) this will give you a starting point to go looking. Good luck with the fresh-air hunting.

Thanks Hezz *blush* Only advice I can give is make sure you get one with a HEPA filter (removable would be good too) as you can take them out and hoover the fiter to prolong the life of it as well. We went for this one: Vicks HEPA Air PurifierWe found this to be suitable (the ioniser you can switch off) AND this website is probably the best price you will get for it. They also do replacement filters at a reasonable price too. If however you wanted to go for something a bit more upmarket try google and look from there. I did look on this subject a lot and one thing they may not tell you is to not put the purifier on the floor, it needs to stand on something to filter the air correctly and what size of the room the purifier covers. Our one covers our room approx 10x12 so you will need one that can filter the size of your room adequately. Best of luck and keep us updated!
