Hello I'm Azurei and have been on another budgie forum for a while so some of you may know of me or my birds, at this time I have 20 or so budgies and a lineolated parakeet called 'Linnie', all living in my home in a ginormous cage, except Linnie who has her own cage, and one of my newly fledged chicks who also has her own cage. I hope to share their stories with you all and read about everyone elses birds and their journeys Photo bucket link: s1162.photobucket.com/user/skyejessiephoebe/library/The%20birdies?sort=3&page=1 which has many photos of my birds doing various things you will also see my chicks this year, unfortunately the hen of this pair was a down plucker, which wasn't a major problem in itself, although the chicks looked very odd, so do excuse those naked budgie butts! Some of the more recent photos show the chicks all grown up and pristine Looking forward to getting to know you all

Thank you all BB that is Suki, she's a beautiful hen and was a fantastic mother up until the plucking, first the down, then on the second clutch the 3 week old babies had some bloody stumps, she had started on the pinnies, so back in the main cage she went, her mate Skylar took over straight away and did a fantastic job, he is one of my best birds, so friendly and kind, and bold! he always looks after my newbies fantastic little cock. This pair had some beautiful chicks. I haven't got any pairs set up at the moment, but soon, my waiting list is growing! I have a yellow face opaline cobalt sf violet greywing hen and normal cobalt cock lined up, just waiting on the other hens to sort themselves out! I miss my baby budgie cuddles I'm always adding more photos, feel free to check them out, or use them if any are of use to you.

Suki is beautiful, and it's always a shame if a hen becomes feather plucker. Yellow Face Opaline Cobalt SF Violet Greywing hen and normal Cobalt cock, WOW that's a very interesting pairing, especially if the cock is split for something as well Happy Breeding

Hi Azurei welcome to the forum. I was hooked on the Suki Skylar breeding journal and had to have a look what was going on every day.Seeing Hojo on Kats thread reminded me of it.

Eeeeeeeeiiiiii hi hun! So glad to see you here you have so many great photos you can share, hop to it hehe I hope we get to see some of Hojo when he eventually molts into his adult feathers! he needs to get a move on, we need to see how handsome he is, I bet he will look a lot like his father in the face, Skylar is one handsome daddy Carol it's great to hear you enjoyed the journal, what a journey it was too in the next few weeks I'm ordering my new breeding set up, and friday I'm getting my closed leg bands so people can trace my birds back to me if needed, we're all go! This year I will have more pairs available, although some I had hoped to breed this year don't have the size I was hoping for, a shame because one of the tiny females is my only spangle! But the breeder my mother got her exhibition birds from had spangles so that may be another avenue to follow, that way I can get adult birds, also nice big marshmallow heads I like the mixes, they have a good balance of traits, but the exhibitions size is something I'd like to keep. I just wouldn't be happy putting such a tiny hen through breeding with my big males, Tamba and Opal are so tinsy! Opal is my only recessive pied too, oh well! I may get some surprises in the flock what with it being a recessive gene Hojos baby sister went to her new home yesterday evening and wasn't phased in the slightest, she always was the cuddliest of the clutch! not at all scared at being moved and being seperated from her siblings, she didn't care! happy to eat, chirp and beak grind, and nibble her new owner I hope it's the start of a beautiful friendship for both the bird and the owner

Suki is beautiful, and it's always a shame if a hen becomes feather plucker. Yellow Face Opaline Cobalt SF Violet Greywing hen and normal Cobalt cock, WOW that's a very interesting pairing, especially if the cock is split for something as well Happy Breeding It was very disappointing as the pair had such beautiful babies, but we have 4 lovely chicks from them, one of which I have kept little Celeste, shes on the photobucket pics The next pair, Bob (cobalt cock) and Marli (yellowface opaline cobalt sf violet greywing....whew that's a mouthful) should produce some interesting chicks indeed, splits would be nice but even if not all chicks will be split greywing (and opaline for cocks) which is great, if I had a sky violet yellow face cock from this pairing then I would keep it as 'hopefully' a mate for Celeste, as she is a mauve yellow face opaline cinnamon grey wing, and dominant pied, so the 'grand-chicks' could come out looking like Marli, some greywings, some normals, some violets, some pieds, all opalines, all cobalts etc, I have plans but I have a cock that would have made a nice pairing to Marli, I just can't bring myself to force her to be with a certain male when she loves her Bob, the other cock is a df violet opaline dominant pied full body grey wing, would have been good, but her current mate Bob is still a nice match, he has a beautiful shape too, a real looker! and man is he fit, that bird can turn on a pin head, mid air, and is so fast! if he doesn't want to go back in the cage then it isn't going to happen Just got to figure out how I'm going to keep my records now! Pictures Bob, cobalt cock, and Marli, cobalt, sf violet, opaline, greywing, yellow face hen. Marli is the bird that started off the budgie madness, she will be 2 in may, she nearly died as a baby, 3 vets were pretty much useless, but we got there and she is now my pride and joy, and very robust she is very mellow too, even before she became sick she was quite tame, she has lost her tameness with the growing flock but is still calm with us, great temperament! Bob belonged to a family members daughter who had grown bored of him and moved on, my sister knew I had budgies and asked if I would take him for this other family member, I said I would, not knowing what to expect except a blue budgie! and imagine my surprise when this stunning deep cobalt bird came to my home, I love his deep colour and he is a beautiful shape, like the old style show budgies he turned a year old at christmas.

You have some very interesting pairs Most has a mouthful of mutations, and they look so too, as you describe them. How many have been verified through breeding? I am sure that Marli survived to produce some beautiful budgie babies for you Bob's colors are stunning for a Cobalt. Is he asking for Marli's consent in the first picture As for the records, you can use some free breeding software. Alternatives are an Excel file or breeding cards.
