I just let the buds out and Meeko cant fly properly..he could not get ant height and landed on the floor, when i went to pick him up he just about made it to the table where their cage is..i put him back in the cage and he held both wings right out stretched and then as if he were hot, gave a few shakes shivered a bit and now he is with Elf in the cage....He is moulting at the moment and some wing feathers are on the cage floor...What could this be,im worried now

ooh poor Meeko... I had similar a while back with Bailey, where he kept landing on the floor of his cage and couldnt get to perches, nor fly..
with him, I think it was one of those things and he was very not himself for a day, and possibly had had something bumped in the night, as he cried when he was preening his back.
Could Meeko have had a fall or bump in the night that now hurts or he has lost confidence?
Is he eating and drinking?

I remember when Bailey was going through that....He has eaten but is now asleep...I did hear what i thought was him crawling around the bars last night but when i checked he was back on his swing...I know something went on as his swing was moving....I have just booked a vets app for tomorrow as something is not right...Just hope he will be ok till then

I am sure he will... Bailey was all dishevelled and sorry for himself, little meeps, no eating or drinking at all.. but it does knock them if they have anything happen.. so lets hope it is just that.
maybe some Guardian Angel in the water? or any tonics?

Sorry to hear Meeko is out of sorts. It may be that he's simply moulted out one too many flight feathers. I've never had this happen, but I know others have.

I'm with everyone else just hoping it's due to the loss of a few too many feathers. That's what I thought initially.
When Munchy used to lose his largest flights he found it hard to keep his balance when jumping. Maybe Meeko had a bad dream and jumped off his swing, knocking a loose, but not ready to fall, flight out in the process? It might not have been damaged as such, just come out somewhat akin to bumping a loose tooth.

Oh! sorry Moogie. I think like the others, maybe a feather too far. Hopefully anyway. Joey has just this morning picked up from a very heavy moult. It seems they are all doing it at the moment. Good luck with the vets.

Looks like on both wings he only has 2 (primary?) feathers left -the long feathers on the wings...

Fingers and wings crossed for a speedy return to normal functioning for Meeko, moogie.
Charlie is also a few big feathers down at the moment but he is still able to get airbourne.
Could - how can I put this tactfully...? - Meeko's 'generous' proportions be a bit of factor in this, do you think?

Yes he is a big boy-not over weight even though i call him my fatty boom boom may be this is why he is not able to fly at height...Is it ok that he only has a few primary wing feather left on both wings though? could it just be down to his moult?

Maybe it is normal Moogie, but perhaps his size (despite him not being overweight) is causing trouble when he has a normal number of lost feathers. Does he have exhibition-type birds in his line? They're supposed to find it harder to fly due to size, aren't they?
