Does anyone have any suggestions re what to do about them finding the new food/water feeders and location? It is now right on the bottom of the cage. I have picked the pot up and shown them what is in it and slowly put it back so they can see where it goes but now I think the cage is a lot bigger and they are cautious of going too low. They have millet and know where that is (half way down the cage). Im just worried they dont drink for a while (water bottle from other cage wont fit new bars :-()

Are your bars quite close together? The L12 seems to have a bigger spacing which is causing a slight issue ha ha ha nothing I wont overcome as they seem to love the extra space. Im a nervous wreck everytime I hear wings flap as they have lost majority of their long wing feathers so arent flying too well at the minute anyway! Like having a newborn again. Panic whenever they make a sound!

When I first got my Hagen cage Joey found the seeds in no time. In fact whenever I move them he soon finds them. The water is in a fountain type, the very cheap ones, as they fit through the bars quite well. One reason for getting a silo type feeder for the seed was Joey made quite a noise when he jumped down onto the grid at the bottom. It didn't bother him just me that jumped out of my skin.

I looked at the Natural bird co platforms and loved them, but in the end decided to make my own feeding platform using the Hagen feeding dish itself. Have a look at this thread where I posted pictures budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/6269/hagen-cage-feeder
You will need someone who can use a jig saw or similar to cut the wood to shape as well as source some double ended screws, but if you are or know someone handy this is a good solution. Mine absolutely love their food perch.

One of my cages is a Hagen, i have the medium and i have to use other feeders, mine wont eat from the bottom ones. Just a little advice, the cage you have is more for larger parrots with the bigger bar spacing. i don't want to add to you worries but just watch they don't try and stick their heads through the bars sorry but best to mention it. Budgie bar spacing should be 1/2"inch really.

This had been an issue for me & Brodie. He happily would eat out of a dish so for the 1st few days he had it outside the cage just so I knew he was eating something then for what seemed like ages it was on the floor of the cage & although he wasn't very comfortable being down there he would go down. I gradually moved it near to the proper dish & then was able to remove it finally. It wasn't just being down there that seemed to be an issue for him but also he didn't seem keen on being under the seed guard thing above him. He's still not that keen on being down there & has to think long & hard about how to get down there (every time....) but he does it. My mum got a seed dish that clips onto the side but by the time she'd found it we were almost there so I didn't use it in the end. But if I'd had it earlier I would have, I think it's important to supplement their feeding if being down there is an issue, at least initially, especially when everything else in the cage is new too. Also I got a flat bottomed water bottle to clip onto the side, I much prefer that & so does Brodie.

Just to be the oddball Joey had no problem feeding from the Hagen supplied pots. He liked it because he could see all around although the corners were distorted. I was the one that wanted something different so I got one of those stainless steel bowls that clip on the cage side. That was OK except for blowing the husks out every morning, and when on occasion he would jump in the bowl and kick seed all over the place. Samwiseg put me onto the Silo type and it has been just the job. Joey spends ages feeding from it, all the husks fall to bottom of the cage and can be easily vaccumed out.
